A Pennsylvania man who sought treatment for jaw pain, killed his chiropractor by fracturing his skull and hitting him in the jaw with a blunt object.
Joseph O’Boyle, 23, blamed his chiropractor Dr. James Sowa, 64, for worsening his jaw pain, according to his family.
Surveillance video from November 2020 shows O’Boyle arriving to Dr. Sowa’s office on the day of the murder and fleeing the scene one minute later.
One week after the murder, law enforcement served O’Boyle a search warrant at his home and that’s when he lunged at a detective a repeatedly punched him in the head.

A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to criminal homicide and other charges on Friday for murdering a chiropractor in November 2020.
Joseph O’Boyle, 23, will be sentenced in the coming months for criminal homicide, criminal trespassing, and possession of an instrument of crime. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault, as well as recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and simple assault, for punching a detective who was investigating the chiropractor’s murder.
Dr. James Sowa, 64, was found dead inside his home and chiropractic office on Nov. 2 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a town about 20 miles northeast of Philadelphia.
O’Boyle had been a patient of Sowa’s two months earlier and blamed the chiropractor for worsening his jaw pain, according to his relatives

A chiro gave me a mini stroke years ago because he refused to STOP messing with my neck, which has had 3 whiplash injuries.
My former good chiro looked at my x rays and refused to get anywhere near it.
This quack just HAD to get that “crack” he wanted, despite me fighting against him.

TMJ is very painful. I had a nightguard in college. It was expensive coming from a dentist. Now you can buy a night guard for about 16 dollars at any drugstore. I would get very stressed, and grind my teeth at night, and wake up with horrible jaw and tooth pain. No excuse for killing the chiropractor, though, but even with my back problem I won’t see one. The thought of someone snapping my spine around is horrifying.
Years ago, a coworker of mine said his father died of a heart attack on a chiropractor’s table, and he hated them.

Maybe 50 mg oxycodone over 3-4 hours ...I’m 240 six five
And 50 mg prednisone daily which is not healthy but is actually the most effective drug it just stops kidneys from cortisol production and can cause fluid retention so more diuretics are needed so U piss every hour or two
I’ve dealt with this 20 years and it’s reached the end of the internet
I don’t like pain meds at this level though they offfered a fifty mg fentanyl patch last year which i refused....stupid me

Need to bring back psych hospitals with long term residency. Too dangerous to have crazies running around in general society. We believed the hype about antipsychotic meds. They can only control symptoms , once off their meds, the patient goes florid.

I had to relocate for my job in the middle of this, so I quit going to him. I also quit eating Chinese for lunch. Viola! Pain was gone. What I was suffering all that time was a reaction to MSG.

Having worked for a Chiropractor I have seen several cases of TMJ and it ranges from irritation to debilitating pain, in short if You never have it consider yourself lucky.
Chiropractic involves treatment of the entire skeleton and muscles.
People that consider Chiropractic to be a scam and Chiropractors to be “quacks” have never been to a real Chiropractor. There are some “quacks” out there for sure but most DC’s (Doctor of Chiropractic) are not “quacks”.
A Chiropractor will start with questions about your pain, a full body exam including ROM Testing (Range of Motion), basic strength testing, Vital Signs followed by X-Rays that could be a set of Cervical (head and neck) pics or a Full on AP and LAT (front to rear and side pics of the entire spine) before making any Adjustments. Some DC’s also do Acupressure/Acupuncture, Laser Therapy.
A real quack will just start making adjustments without doing a PT (patient) exam first.
