My first posting and it's a VANITY. HELP
Lucky American

Posted on 06/22/2022 7:21:32 AM PDT by lucky american

I need help from my very enlightened freepers who have infinite knowledge and wisdom to help a woman out. I have a Harvest Right freeze dryer that needs a gasket and an oil/ water separator filter. I need to know the manufacturer and there is nothing on the pump to indicate who made it. Just the words Harvest Right. I called Harvest Right and they don't sell replacement parts and refused to tell me the make and model number. I can't afford a new pump and I'm very disappointed with the company. I can buy a whole new $3500 unit though. Any thoughts about what I should do?

Post pics. A “gasket” for what? Air oil separators is rather vague too. Hoewever most anything can be purchases from McMaster Carr. Mcmaster.com

Sounds like a do-it-yourself project for a technically inclined person. Gaskets and filters should be easy to put together even from incorrect parts or material.

Your problem is very common with the way things are manufactured today especially from China. Goods are totally not repairable and parts not available.

If you can remove the items and take them to an appliance repair store they may be able to help.

Well, the (entire) unit is on sale, now ...

https://harvestright.com/product/home-freeze-dryer/

And, it comes with a “premier” pump, too.

Not that that helps. Maybe ask them the difference between the two.

We bought it in 2019 . And yes, I have the paper work. I even downloaded the parts list from Harvest Right. It’s out of warranty. I do not know how to post pictures on here.

You can get most any gasket custom made at some machine shops if you can’t find a replacement.

I hate to be blunt, but if this is over your head...

...you need to call a general mechanic.

Any competent mechanic can repair your freeze drier without regard to the manufacturer (one way or the other).

It’s a ‘minor’ repair (almost ‘eyes closed’ for those of us so inclined).
