As I post this, it is the evening before the 233rd anniversary of the first ever SOTU, American time.
Nobody now knows definitively how to fight terrorism.
Being ruled by fear of them can drag us down to where they are.
I recall reading a Douglas MacArthur quote somewhere along the lines of "I cannot fight the enemy, if I cannot see him."
Understanding the enemy is a part of this process.
In approaching such problems, which modern leader comes closest to emulating George Washington?
Make them fear.
Remember when they dropped that MOAB bomb in Afghanistan?
Got pretty dang quiet for a long while after that over there.
And around the world if I remember now.
Actually minding our own business would be refreshing for a change. If the Iranians wish to terrorize , let them do so as long as they stay away from our shores. Presumably their neighbors will do things in response. If they don’t then it is clear they see no problem with the Iranians bad manners.
Sadly, Osama Bin Laden was in some ways prophetic - he said the USA would destroy itself by waging expensive, useless and demoralizing wars around the globe.
He thought he would trigger such wars, with mass Sunni jihad. He was wrong about that. Rather the US deep-state and MIC has chosen its own wars
First, immediately slash the threat estimate. Knock EyePatch McCain out of the crows nest...
I believe that the usual MacArthur quote is, "Know your enemy!"
Regards,
What’s IRGC?
I’m assuming Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
simple history.
how did we, im Americ,, find and round up all those Soviet spies in the 1950’s?
monitored everything, evaluated all questionables, then brought them in.
do not ever doubt they exist. have as an end goal, thd eradicatkon of such threats, swiftly, withouta gaggle of lawyers ...The Patriot Act maybe?
Right, as Washington was an “isolationist” that so many here and of every stripe in this country now despise.
It is impossible to be perfectly isolationist, but it should be striven for. Not simply going after every opportunity - except each battle is weakly pursued, so much worry about surgical strikes and “not hurting ‘innocent’ civilians”. So we end up endlessly fighting with one hand tied behind the back.
I wish TPTB would use force rarely, but, when the cause is right, with absolutely terrifying effect.
Raw force is the only thing some of our unsubtle adversaries understand.
IRGC is the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps
Thanks.
