The ref called holding.
The player said he was holding.
The other player sad he was being held.
And the whole reason for the holding was because the Eagles allowed 2 touchdowns on 2 of the same plays from earlier in the game.
It was a good decision to try to get away with a hold rather than get burned for the third time.
But by then, the ref was watching for it.
I did not watch the game live, but watched a short video of the questioned call and its pretty easy to see how the ref thought it was holding. He had his right hand hooked around the body and his left hand in a fist on the jersey and it looked like he pulled it.
Did he “hold” him? Not really, but it sure looked like it.
In fact, even if they had video review I am not sure the review booth would have overturned the call. How would you? It “looked like a hold”. The television announcer did not do anyone favors with his comments either.
It’s a 60 minute game. Hard to blame “one play” and there will always be some 50/50 calls.
My son’s baseball coach used to say if we score enough runs, bad calls don’t factor into our wins.
