There’s a reason that a local windfarm is required to keep the area below a turbine mowed down. So they can count the dead bird and bats. Even though they assured us that they don’t kill birds and bats.
Eagles are just now making a comeback in my area, and they planted 145 500’ tall Monuments to Gaia right in migration path of Sandhill Cranes
Why can’t they put a light cage/screen around them like the fans people use at home? Or something on top (solar powered) that emits a high frequency “anti bird” signal good for a 500 foot diameter? How stupid!
And no one mentions the song bird and bat mortality rate. Bats are not even counted.

More workers have died from accidents with windmills than all the people killed in western world from nuclear power plant accidents.
It’s been shown that painting one of the blades a dark color minimizes bird strikes.
Under certain lighting conditions it’s difficult for the birds to detect the white blades, but the birds are more likely to see the black blade in those same conditions and veer away.
The cost would be minimal to make one blade a dark color during manufacture of new turbines, but if they did so (and it worked) there would be a clamor and probably laws requiring the existing turbines to be so modified, and that would be expensive.
So in this matter it’s impossible to make progress because doing so creates a liability for everyone currently operating.
