"What about our Finnish sisters?"

Yes of course! A special welcome to our Finnish sisters. Celebratory saunas for everyone!

Then a celebratory Artillery barrage of some sort, and drinks.

@ChuckPfarrer 2m "DELIVERING THE HURT: US-designed JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) systems are now being used by the UKR air force. These 'bolt on' kits turn Mk 84 2000 pound aerial bombs into GPS guided precision strike munitions with ranges greater than 15 miles."

Heavy snow fell in Bakhmut. Russia continues assaults in the city.

@ChuckPfarrer 6h

"BAKHMUT CITY /1210 UTC 31 MAR/ RU continues efforts to size the urban area of Bakhmut. In the last 24 hrs, UKR reports breaking up >22 attacks on the city. At present, UKR Lines of Communication and Supply (LOCS) are secure, but RU is registering gains in costly urban fighting."

“A new $2.6 billion U.S. military aid package that could include air surveillance radars, anti-tank rockets and fuel trucks for Ukraine’s fight against Russia is expected to be announced as soon as Monday, three U.S. officials said on Friday.

A half a dozen types of munitions, including tank munitions, are also expected to be on the list of equipment that could be finalized over this weekend, the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said, adding that the dollar amount and specific equipment in the package could change.”

Hard to have seen that coming...

“Convicted Killer Freed by Wagner Goes Home and Kills Again”

“A convicted killer sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security prison in Russia got the break of his life when the notorious Wagner Group began recruiting inmates for the war against Ukraine last year—and now free, he’s murdered someone again.

Ivan Rossomakhin, 28, is accused of another murder in his native village in the Kirov region less than three years after he was ordered to spend more than a decade behind bars, MediaZona reports. During that time, he managed to avail himself of Wagner’s prison-recruitment scheme, whereby inmates receive a full pardon if they survive six months fighting in Ukraine.”

I’m curious to see what kind of gangs and what type of gang methods come into being in the next few years from these combat-hardened ex-cons.

According to @ChuckPfarrer's graphic, SU-24s will need to be modified to carry the JDAMs.

My guess is that the Ukrainian Mig-29s that have been modified to carry HARM missiles would be able to carry JDAMs without further modification.

The Slovakian Mig-29s, being delivered to Ukraine, have probably already been modified to carry HARMs and JDAMs.

The picture below shows a Ukrainian MiG-29 with a HARM...note the adapter between the wing pylon and the missile:

That adapter would also be used for JDAMs.

Last Time: After the Chechen wars, the Russian Mafia saw its membership increase with the influx of veterans.

That is interesting I would imaging the software issues would be much more difficult than hanging the munitions on existing Soviet hard point.
Put a Buick v-6 onto a T90a trans for my 63 cj-5. All it took was an adapter plate

Setting up motor mounts, radiator, throttle and choke…. Took a bit more effort.

This might be the worst-case scenario.

Now we have men serving hard time suddenly sent to military training together forming the bonds, learning to fight as a team, fighting as brothers in war, and assumedly conducting whatever crimes and crime operations they could conduct during that time, living and fighting together and making plans for the future along with whatever they can steal from the military during that period.

Rather than individual veterans joining a mafia, this is forming mafia groups out of the labor pool of prisoners that were brought together and made into army groups by the thousands.

Even the existing Russian Mafia may find there is a new order taking over power within and without their organization.

MS-13 was heavily shaped by the influx of veterans from the communist/anti-communist guerrilla wars in Central America. The modern Italian Mafia was formed by the resistance to the French occupation in Corsica. Chinese Triads also have a history as resistance movements.

A good argument could be made that Putin’s regime itself is a gang shaped by veterans of the Cold War. Prison culture and ethos seem to characterize Prigozhin and his PMC Wagner.

Russian Mafia takes recruits, kills uppity upstarts.

Russian mobnicks & convicts do not learn to fight a a group, but as suicide soldiers. Individual survival is all that matters. Dead are left to rot, and wounded are often shot.

US Military is NOTHING like the Russian army - even those doing hard time are ‘nicer’.

Sometimes you overdo your impulse to put everything into a perfectly formed box, with reality being a precise and exact fit to your imagination and opinions.

We don’t know the precise level of training every individual receives, but we can assume that out of those thousands, some will be made professional mercenaries and some will be pulled out for officers and NCOs.

A giant mercenary organization is not going to get a pool of 10s of thousands of hard men and not find a lot of good individuals from that pool.

As far as the Russian mafia not having any trouble with them, my bet is that they will, things change, people change, organizations change, leadership is fought for and changes.
