I am not posting this to start another endless Putin/Ukraine smashfest here on FR. Those are pointless.

I don't like Putin. I don't like Zelensky. I don't really like John Mearsheimer who is the professor who lays out his case about how our government contributed to this conflict and some even seemed hellbent on causing it.

I want the war to end and have been quite clear about it but in the hopes that some will at least consider the "other side" I hope you will watch this and just consider what he says because it is true. It's not posted as an excuse for Putin or anyone else, but all of us would do well to consider how our foreign policy/intel/military complex helped muck this up given that we face potential problems with Taiwan. It's the same people in charge.

I would also ask - why was Ukraine membership in NATO so important to people in our government (who seemed to travel there so frequently)? The point of NATO was a collective defense of Western Europe from the USSR. The agreements by the West were that we would NOT encroach upon Russia yet here we are.

Is the Ukraine better off today because of our partnership with them? Are you safer and more prosperous? How many people have to die over this or should we just keep fueling it until the last Ukrainian can turn out the lights or it goes nuclear?

This is insane and people need to get past their kneejerk reactions of Putin/Zelensky because the root causes of this illustrate the dangerous idiocy of the Ivy-league morons in charge of our foreign policy. We have military forces strewn all over the globe right now and I sure don't think all of them (or even most) are representing your interests or mine.

Biden is a Chinese asset.

China benefits the most from the Ukraine war.

NATO refused Ukrainian requests to join since 2008, although NATO leaders would not rule out the possibility of membership some time in the future.

Ukrainian desire to join NATO went up fast once Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.

“Professor Johns Mearsheimer on why the US wanted this war and how our government helped cause the conflict in the Ukraine.”

I wouldn’t say that the Neocons WANTED this war, as even the Neocons know that our hollowed-out, Drag Queen infested, Just-in-Time, military is not ready for a REAL WAR.

Instead the hope was that Russia would turn tail and run...and then their Azov allies would drive out the Russian speakers in Eastern Ukraine, as part of their ‘purification’ of the country. After that, they take Crimea, and drive the Russians out of the Black Sea (basically Ethnic Cleansing/Genocide of about 10 million people, but not a problem, since they’re Russian types and it’s us doing it).

But if Russia did defend their fellow Russians stuck in Ukraine, the plan was to impose KILLER SANCTIONS on Russia which would collapse the economy. Only problem is that it collapsed the WRONG economy, that being Europe’s, who now have to sneak around their own ‘sanctions’ and cut deals with Russia just to put food on the table and gas in their cars.

The ABSOLUTE LAST thing the Neocons wanted was a real war in Ukraine as they knew it would FAR TOUGHER for our hollowed-out military, than droning a relative handful of goat-herders.

The shadowy cabal of leftists who snuck Barack Hussein into office (and who continue to run the Biden regime) are NOT America

One should not lose sight of the princelings of Biden, Pelosi, Kerry and Romney who were raking millions in through "legal" escapades in Ukraine, which made it well worth "defending" for their own venal interests, and NOT for the average Ukrainian or American. Graft of the sort that was likely lining the pockets of many in the political class here and in Europe was worth fighting for.... (sarcasm)

Additionally, while our nation's national debt rivals that during the depths of the second world war, we are shoveling money into a hole which better could be spent easing the burdens of Americans or bettering our American future at home.

For my view, worldwide corruption is raging around the world like a wounded animal as "order" is in chaos, the worthless paper of climate change carbon credits and worthless currencies which are wholly imaginary are blowin' in the wind.

Not that it does matter what I feel, think and believe, but my feeling is that as long as the US remains involved this conflict will continue as I don’t think that Russia will concede. I mentioned it before and will mention it again..

If it would not be for the US most Ukrainians still would have a roof over their heads and sleep in their own beds and this war would be over by now. Probably the eastern portion of the Ukraine which has a large portion of ethnic Russians and was constantly assaulted and antagonized by radical groups would have been annexed by Russia and things eventually would have settled down. The only difference would be if Ukraine returns to Russian guidance as it has been previously for four hundred years would be somewhat less corruption and most of the radical elements would be wiped out. Aside all this conditions in Ukraine were never this bad to start a war over it.

The same goes for Europe if they had not jumped on the US bandwagon. The US purposely damaged the gas supply lines making sure that Europe in general and Germany in particular remains dependent on the US like a colony, just in case they may come to their senses and change their mind.

Those days when Russia had any ideas of expansion are long gone and over with and things of the past as Russia has more than enough and then some on its plate to take care of. All they want is a quiet neighborhood without NATO or CIA manipulation and intervention. Just like the US likes to keep their backyard free of any intruders, as expressed in the Monroe Doctrine. But the warmongers within the US government along with their associates and friends keep egging them on, knowing that a peaceful coexistence is bad for the production of war materials, especially the military industrial complex as well as the globalists, cranking out wartime supplies like there is no tomorrow and if they keep it up there may not be one. So, they keep stirring the pot until it will boil over and it isn’t too far from doing just that.

Biden/Democrats wanted this war because they’re crazy enough to think Russia was to blame for the Trump Presidency.

Personal politics

In 2019, Mearsheimer said his preferred candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary was Bernie Sanders.[83] He has said that economic inequality in the United States was the greatest problem faced by the nation.[83]

I have not supported this war since the beginning. But, even moreso this administration’s foreign policy is insane.

What a dunce this Prof. The US does not have the capacity to “want” something. Biden, Congress Critters, Generals, privates may or may not want something. They have that capacity.

The “US” does not have the capacity to “want” anything.
