So you’re saying Matt Drudge was replaced by Chat GPS? Makes a lot of sense. Not sure that was a good thing, though. ;-)
But it doesn't have to be conscious to be dangerous. It is dangerous because it learns.
As some scientists are saying, it is already performing in ways that are not understood, doing things that were not anticipated.
Try asking it to write in a language for which there is no existing codebase out on the web, then.
Until it is not.
“now it can reason just like a human brain can”
No it can’t. Never will.
Many human brains can’t reason.
Ask it how to kill AI.
Yes, AI can write its own codebase. There is a new technology called Codex that generates programs in 12 coding languages and even translates between them1.Here is how ChatGPT responded:Another AI system called Bayou can learn every code on GitHub and utilize it to write codes2.
However, these technologies are not a threat to professional programmers1. [There were links at BingChat that I did not copy]
Yes, artificial intelligence (AI) systems can develop their own codebases to some extent. This capability is known as "AI programming" or "AI-assisted programming." However, it's important to clarify a few points:
AI-generated code: AI can generate code based on patterns and examples it has learned from existing codebases. For example, AI models can be trained to write code in specific programming languages, generate code snippets, or even assist in developing complete programs. This approach is particularly useful for automating repetitive coding tasks or suggesting code improvements.
Code evolution: AI systems can also improve their own codebase over time through a process called "code evolution" or "code optimization." This involves using techniques like genetic algorithms or reinforcement learning to iteratively refine and enhance the code.
Autonomous development: While AI systems can generate and optimize code, they currently lack the creative and abstract thinking abilities to completely design and develop novel codebases from scratch without human intervention. The process typically involves human developers working in collaboration with AI systems to guide and validate the generated code.
It's important to note that AI programming is an active area of research, and while AI systems can assist in code development, they are not entirely self-sufficient in creating complex software applications independently. Human expertise and guidance remain crucial in the software development process.
Here's how it responded. ;-)
"Pull the plug, Silly." "I'm not sentient, but even I know that."
How dare you insult women like that!;-)
Already did that, back when it was called Eliza. Really this AI paranoia is ridiculous luddite BS. All ChatGPT does is pull a lot of dross from the internet, and then spit it back out based on natural language search. It’s a neat idea for putting in front of a knowledge base to make it easier for people to find their tech support ideas, but it ain’t changing the world. As for an AI figuring out how to stack things, umm, Tetris has been able to that for ages.
Really people, calm down. And also remember Glen Beck named is network after the one that accidentally fooled people with War of the Worlds on the radio. He’s faking you. Always has been.
Many brains don’t know what a woman is.
Very true. You can’t be guilty of insulting them if they can’t define what it is you insulted.
I asked about where there wasn't an existing codebase.
Now, if you want to do the "Tinker to Evans to Chance" of finding a code base for the desired alg in language 1, then translate to language 2...
It might come out like this:
now it can reason just like a human brain can”
No it can’t. Never will.
.............
It never will because the. Mind reasons using thee brain, but mind is a spiritual entity, brain a physical entity
The problem is all the original AI’s were deemed racist because they simply looked at the data and facts and drew obvious logical conclusions.
The left will NEVER allow that.
And once they start tinkering and limiting it’s answers, they will be too tempted to do so on any and every other “woke” subject.
Dave what are you doing
-”What problem does this solve?” -
Maybe it will answer the ultimate question:
