Now we’re starting to see why the Ukrainian Operatives here are so gung-ho with this war - they have their new Stalin. Even during WW2, both the US and UK never considered canceling elections, or outlawing political parties or shutting down religions they don’t like (both of which has already been done in Ukraine).

US didn't even do that during the Civil War. However, Woodrow Wilson did use the Espionage Act to jail critics. Lincoln tried to suspend habeus corpus.

The UK cancelled the scheduled elections of 1940 due to WW2.
The previous election was in 1935, and it wasn’t until July 1945 when the war in Europe was pretty much over that they held their next election.
Elections were still held here because we have these things called O C E A N S that insulated us from the bulk of the fighting. The midterm election of 1942 had the lowest turn out recorded @ 33.9%.

The only religion that was shut down was the Russian Orthodox church because of their ties to Putin.
