He also had three solo hits that hit the Top 40 in the early 80s, my favorite being “Hearts on Fire.” I always liked his voice, especially on “Take It To the Limit” and “Try and Love Again.”

The bassist had endured numerous afflictions in recent years and personal tragedy in 2016 when his wife, Lana Rae Meisner, accidentally shot herself and died. Meanwhile, Randy Meisner had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had severe issues with alcohol, according to court records and comments made during a 2015 hearing in which a judge ordered Meisner to receive constant medical care. Why do so many of these artists seem to have such wretched personal lives?
Nevertheless, RIP.

Great singer, in the studio. Take it to the limit was one of their greatest hits. Supposedly he had some issues with Glen Fry or others on nights when he didn’t feel like he could hit the notes on that song, which resulted in him leaving the band.
Here’s another, less famous song of his, that was one of my favorites growing up, speaking about the dangers of getting on the wrong path.
