The bassist had endured numerous afflictions in recent years and personal tragedy in 2016 when his wife, Lana Rae Meisner, accidentally shot herself and died. Meanwhile, Randy Meisner had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had severe issues with alcohol, according to court records and comments made during a 2015 hearing in which a judge ordered Meisner to receive constant medical care.

Why do so many of these artists seem to have such wretched personal lives?

Nevertheless, RIP.

Highly successful entertainers having wretched personal lives. Why?

First reason I think of is when you have more money than you ever expected to have, the average person is going to do as they wish, often to the point of excess or self destruction.
As that entertainer spends a couple of years indulging in making all of his materialist dreams come true, certain areas of life are often ignored or kept on the back burners.

Many of them are tortured in their heads, if not directly in their lives. There’s a reason they are creative, and sometimes, it is done to escape. Mind you, not all, but there are a lot of them that use their art as therapy.
