Calling someone a RuZZian on FR is considered an insult.
Calling someone a Comrade on FR is considered an insult.

Summarizing this war:

A tragedy for Ukraine.
A disaster for RuZZia.
A strategic win for the USA. The biggest winner of the war.

“More than three decades after Reagan left office, most Republicans still believe that America is a force for good.”

Is it common for the attacking army to lose 3x as much as the defending army?

I assume the much of the Ukrainian tanks and artillery are ex-Soviet and therefore of similar quality to that of the Russian.

Ukraine: military situation update - Aug 9, 2023 ••Denotes Transcribed Dialogue. Extras are just that - from other sites, or my comments marked (Edit: .... ) or { } or [ ]. === Extras: ----> Ukraine Situation Report: Kharkiv Oblast City Planning Evacuation As Russians Approach <---- Russian troops are now less than five miles from Kupiansk, a city in Kharkiv Oblast that Ukraine recaptured last September. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-kharkiv-oblast-city-planning-evacuation-as-russians-approach Excerpts: The Russians have created an offensive group consisting of eight "Storm-Z assault units" to take Kupiansk, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told Ukrainska Pravda Wednesday. At the same time, the Russians were advancing from the area of Novoselivske - about 16 miles southeast in Luhansk Oblast, Syrskyi told the publication. They unsuccessfully attempted to cut off the Ukrainian defenders with a flank attack and encircle some of the brigade's units defending there, he said. The general visited the Kupiansk area on Tuesday, he said on his Telegram channel. "Our soldiers are bravely holding the defense, repelling all the enemy's attempts to advance," Syrskyi stressed. The Russians have also been staging “unsuccessful offensives in the Sinkivka district of the Kharkiv region for several days,” Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said Wednesday on her Telegram channel. That's about three miles northeast of Kupiansk. The goal is to “break through the defense of our troops and go directly to Kupiansk. The intensity of hostilities and enemy shelling is high. For some positions, there are several position changes per day.” The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces have achieved success in their push toward Kupiansk. “In the course of combat operations in Kupiansk direction, assault groups of the 6th Combined Arms Army captured four strongholds, five observation posts, destroyed a U.K.-manufactured Spartan Armored Personnel Carrier, one supply point and destroyed up to a company of infantry from the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade near Mankovka tract,” the Russian MoD claimed. “In addition, during the day the enemy carried out nine counterattacks by units of the 67th and 14th separate mechanized brigades on Russian positions close to Sinkivka and Mankovka tract. All counterattacks were successfully repelled. The enemy losses were up to a platoon of manpower.” == ----> Massive Blast Rocks Town Outside Of Moscow <---- A dramatic mushroom cloud rose over a factory that makes military aviation related optical equipment, but the culprit is still unknown. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/massive-blast-rocks-town-outside-of-moscow === Reporting From Ukraine: Narrated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. "Our generals are engaged in the first, their task is to push the Russians to retreat and understand that it is better to talk than to fight. Military base suffers smoking incident. https://t.me/pilotblog/5878 === General SVR https://t.me/s/generalsvr A man resembling Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the governor of the Tver region, Igor Rudenya. The meeting was absolutely walk-through and the double practically did not prepare, only superficially walked through the materials provided. The Governor reported to the President on the situation in the region, spoke about the socio-economic development of the region and the progress in the construction of priority facilities. It would seem that an ordinary, boring meeting and there is no point in covering it. BUT! It's all about the behavior of Putin's double, who increasingly feels like a president and adopts not only Putin's characteristic features, but also brings his own understanding and meanings to the image of the head of state. Sometimes it looks rather strange. So, yesterday, during the closed part of the meeting with the governor of the Tver region, the double reprimanded Igor Rudenya for the "disgusting" leadership of the region and "low performance", insulting him at the same time, calling him a "pig's snout" and "a bastard who has eaten a fxxx." It was strange, also because harsh criticism of the governor was not part of the plan for preparing the double for the meeting and was his personal initiative. The transformation of the understudy into the president is proceeding rapidly, and this is alarming to Putin's entourage, but there are no better options so far and one has to be content with this. Another conversation was held with the double yesterday in order to reason with him and return him to a constructive course, but apparently the double has already felt the taste of unlimited power and, realizing his exceptional position, will try to play by his own rules. Putin spoke yesterday mainly with doctors. He felt unwell in the morning and called the doctors, who, after staying with him for more than an hour and a half, took tests, examined him and had another examination. Having taken the medicine, the president refused to participate in a meeting with representatives of the leadership of the military bloc, and postponed the reports to the second half of the day. Toward evening, Putin almost indifferently listened to two reports, and without giving any orders he went to rest. In the evening, the president again needed the help of doctors and the doctors stayed with him until he fell asleep. ----> According to the attending physicians, the president's health is deteriorating and there are no prospects for improvement. <---- https://t.me/generalsvr/1738 === BRIEF https://t.me/s/rusbrief 269 million rubles - this is exactly the profit that the bourbon producer Jim Beam received from sales in Russia in 2022. This is almost four times more than a year earlier (69 million rubles), and an absolute record for the last 5 years. In July 2022, the company announced that it was leaving Russia and suspending sales of premium alcohol. However, it continues to recruit staff. RTVI === BRIEFLY https://t.me/briefsmi The Guardian: Bakhmut for Russia can be a stepping stone on the way to the capture of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. These are two medium-sized cities, the capture of which will give Russia control over most of the Donetsk region. The strategic need to hold Bakhmut was even more pressing until last year's Kharkov offensive. Since the end of May of this year, Ukrainian troops have been probing the villages north and south of Bakhmut, controlling the western heights. They do not make decisive attempts to attack the city. Perhaps it makes more sense to hold a large force there than to risk attacking a purely symbolic target. == Dr. Ying-Yu Lin for The Diplomat: If Ukraine received some military assistance from the United States before the start of the NMD, then Taiwan is a long-standing user of American weapons, with extensive experience in integrating new weapons systems into existing ones and coordinating various types of platforms. In the event of an armed conflict in the Taiwan Strait, the interoperability between the Taiwanese military and its American counterpart would undoubtedly be much better than during the 1996 Taiwan Strait crisis. In the future, the United States may not take a direct part in the armed conflict in the Taiwan Strait in the form of sending aircraft carriers and main warships. Instead, they can send electronic warfare aircraft and electronic intelligence platforms to the airspace and waters around Taiwan to support the Taiwanese military. At the moment, the PLA is most interested in how the Russian military was able to defeat the United States in electronic warfare on the battlefield in Ukraine. This is an invaluable lesson that the Russian military learned with great difficulty. The most significant achievement of the Ukrainian troops in these battles was the damage inflicted on the Russian Navy in this region with the help of ground-based weapons. There were no ship-to-ship battles, but the way Ukraine used its coastal weapons, drones and US-provided electronic intelligence to launch effective strikes against Russian forces at sea is noteworthy. Therefore, in preparation for a possible PLA invasion in the near future, the Taiwanese military intends to gradually build up shore-based missiles and unmanned platforms in accordance with the "porcupine" strategy formulated by defense planners at home and abroad. The goal is to force the PLA to face the same situation in the Taiwan Strait that the Russian military faced in the Black Sea. == Bloomberg “From robots to recycled vapes. The ingenuity of the Ukrainian military” (Part 2): The Ukrainian company Himera Tech has developed affordable anti-jamming radiotelephones for use by Ukrainian military personnel. The company uses commercial chips and proprietary software to improve performance and reduce costs. These radios are not as reliable as military-grade IC radios, but are considered sufficient to deal with adversaries. By the end of the year, Himera Tech plans to produce 2-3 thousand devices per month and intends to sell them to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in the future increasing production to 10 thousand devices per month. Another company, Power Kit, recycles discarded e-cigarettes to produce power banks, which are used to charge the electronics of soldiers on the front lines. The Power Kit Company distributed more than 2,100 power supplies to military personnel free of charge. Drone company Skylab UA has developed a Sirko-S remotely controlled carrier with thermal imaging cameras, which is used to supply forward positions and evacuate wounded soldiers. Citius-S is converting trucks into armored de-mining vehicles, and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence is developing an underwater robot to search for and recover underwater mines. In addition, Anima has created software that uses image-based tests to measure levels of depression and anxiety, which will help in the early detection and prevention of post-traumatic stress disorder in military personnel and refugees.

Germany will deliver two more of the MIM-104 Patriot launchers.

This comes only 24h after an unknown government bought 50 Leopard 1 from Belgium stocks for refurbishment in Germany and to be sent to Ukraine.

Based on ISR flights today over the western Black Sea, it looks like more strikes on Crimea are coming soon. Rivet Joint had 2 fighter escorts during her mission. And Forte11 is still watching Sevastopol.

BRIEF
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are now unable to conduct a successful counteroffensive, says Polish President Andrzej Duda. “The question is: do Ukraine have enough weapons to change the balance of power on the battlefield and gain the upper hand? Most likely the answer is no. They most likely do not have enough weapons. And we know this, because now they cannot carry out a decisive counteroffensive against Russian troops,” he said in an interview with The Washington Post
