I haven't forgotten:
What a beautiful fall morning it was
Driving into work and hearing that a plane had hit the Trade Center
Watching on TV at work as the second plane hit.
Calling friends and family, and rushing home.
Watching the smoke plumes from a hill in NJ
On TV, watching people waving out windows in the upper floors for help
Watching people dive out the building choosing a quick death rather than die in the fire.
Todd Beamer's "Let's Roll" that saved untold lives.
Losing a good friend who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, who liked nothing more than having people over to watch the Giant football games while sitting in his lucky chair so his team would win- whose body was never found.
Losing another friend who was an elevator repairman who rushed back only to die in the collapse.
Days of seeing cars parked in the train station parking lots, whose owners were never to return
The empty skies as they grounded all flights.
The loss, the tears, the anger, as the news and stories of the souls lost and their bereft families.
I haven't forgotten
Neither have I. Thanks.
“ Losing a good friend who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald”
Same. Boy next door. Sigh.
It seems Osama bin Laden’s strategy was correct - launch a war that would ultimately bankrupt America and turn the country on itself.
I haven’t forgotten. My experience was different than yours, but it shook me to my core. Trying to explain things to my school aged children was…well, nothing made sense.
I’m sorry about your friends who didn’t ever come home.
It was a very sad day.
May bin laden burn in hell with the rest of the muzzie trash!
I haven’t forgotten, but my sense of the meaning has changed. The deep state wanted something like this to happen, and did nothing to prevent it, so that they could justify consolidating more power. COVID was another part of that consolidation.
911 was the culmination of 8 years of the Clinton criminal cabal caring more about pocket lining than terrorism, and if you’ll recall, Bill Clinton put Al Gore in charge of increasing airline security in 1998 in which Gore took “campaign contributions” from the airlines instead which if you ask me is why Gore went even more crazy after 911.
And 2016 we had people CRYING because they Clintons were not reinstalled into the Oval office.
I remember watching the news coverage of the plane hitting the second tower. The camera cut to a rooftop somewhere across the river with a group of people in Arabic dress. When the plane hit they started jumping up and down and cheering. I never saw that footage again, it just disappeared completely.
I was working in Rockville MD and my wife was working at the DOL next to the Capital. She was in a walking cast from breaking her ankle. They closed the bridges and cell calls were down but the text messages worked. My wife was able to catch a bus to one of her coworkers apartment in Bethesda and I was able to get there from Rockville. By that time they had opened the outer bridges and we were able to get home to Alexandria. Scary times.
AGREE
Sadly the planners of this attack have yet to face justice and the “religion” that drove these crimes against humanity is still preaching jihad and fomenting the same kind of violence and intolerance
I have not and never will.
To this day, when I see a memorial or a museum featuring a piece of the World Trade Center, I am transported back to that day and I weep for my country.
My children will never understand how that day, and one in 1998, changed me forever.
9/11/01 sucked. But today is 9/11/23. The Deep State took advantage of what happened on 9/11 to accumulate all their powers they have over our lives on this very day. Back then, we could kind of trust the FBI. Now they’re like the Stasi. Perhaps, that’s the greatest tragedy.
“Back then, we could kind of trust the FBI.”
Ruby Ridge. Waco. Richard Jewell.
Bad apples....
I was 14, sitting in algebra class when they announced it on the speakers. Our school had been built in 1909, so there were no televisions in the classrooms. Teachers let students go to AV or the commons (they put a TV there) or even the teacher’s lounge to listen to the news.
How things have changed, and how they haven’t...
I remember that Tuesday as if it was yesterday
There were a lot of unusual things that happened in my life that year, too
I had 2 of my kids in harms way…….both worked in Manhattan and phone lines were jammed….all was well , thank God .
