Proper herding dogs wouldn’t have let her wander.

Barring that, good job, doggies.

Nothing. Just noticed it was posted yesterday, too, with some discussion already. Thought it might contribute to this one.

Absolutely scared spitless were those parents. They’ll keep a closer eye on that wanderer here on in.

Used to be a common occurrence when I grew up. Kids getting lost in the corn fields.

Got lost out there once or more myself.

Dad would tell me “Can’t died in the corn field and Couldn’t and Wouldn’t are lost out there.”

As a kid you would take things literally. There is a dead guy in the corn field! and these other guys don’t sound too friendly either!

Didn’t play in the corn field that year and didn’t get lost.

I suspect she was in absolutely no danger but the parents would never have known that. Those dogs would have eventually forced her to go home and led her there. Dogs are good that way.

At night black panthers used to sneak up thru the cornfields to get closer to the chicken coops. We used to
Scare them off at night with a car battery spotlight and 30 30’s.
