At the end of World War II, the world was in shock as it had discovered the horrors of the Holocaust that had come from one of the most educated countries on the planet. Depending on how one looks at it, the Holocaust took place ONLY eighty years ago or ALREADY eighty years ago. Within the scope of human history, it wasn’t a long time, but when we look at man’s lifespan, it helps us understand that almost all those who have gone through the horrors of the “Shoah” (catastrophe) and survived it are now gone, simply because of old age. Only a handful of firsthand survivors remain around us today, most of them in their nineties. Very soon, nobody will be able to hold someone’s hand and turn their arm to discover the infamous tattoo of doom–the death number of the camps.
The voices of the Shoah are fading away, while the voices of historical revisionism are shouting that the Holocaust was either grossly exaggerated or never happened. Its memory is in the hands of family members of Holocaust victims. That is why I continue to tell the story of how my mother was hidden in the South of France after her father was taken by the Gestapo and sent to be murdered in Auschwitz. Some people realized early on that the horrendous, organized genocide of the Jewish people had to be documented. One of these people was General Dwight Eisenhower.
He understood the importance of documenting and remembering the Holocaust the minute that he walked inside the camp at Orhdruf. As he visited this sub-camp of Buchenwald with Generals Bradley and Patton, he realized the magnitude of what he was witnessing.

The 69-year-old man’s death was determined to be a ‘homicide’ by Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office
NBC News altered a headline after Paul Kessler, a Jewish man, was killed following an “altercation” with pro-Palestinian protesters at a rally in California.
Kessler “was in a physical altercation with counter-protestor(s)” during which he “fell backwards and struck his head on the ground,” the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The statement explained that the “Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force head injury and the manner of death homicide.”

I remember very well going into NYC to the lower East side where my Dad was commanded by my Mom to shop for a winter jacket for me. This was maybe 1965, I was about ten, this was how it was done. I had pretty low interest in getting a winter coat, but NYC was always fascinating, and going through the Holland tunnel was unusual for our NYC voyages, and landed in a much grittier part of NYC than the Lincoln tunnel which emerged in NYC midtown. Of course the highlight of the day was getting a mountainous pastrami or roast beef sandwich for lunch. The busboy who cleaned our table was a kind of thin, haggard older guy, and I could see he had a 5 or 6 digit number tattooed on the inside of his forearm. I always wondered why he had that tattoo.

In the 70’s I was a receptionist for a Jewish doctor……in a Northern state
I believe most if not all patients were Jewish, fwiw
