That’s remarkable, but perhaps I should give certain dogs more credit. They see what their masters are doing while fishing, the same routine, week after week. The dogs see the pattern of events.

They can even share the joy of ‘success’:
“Hey, Come on out. You got a Fish!!”
The dog knew that time was of the essence, so he hurried up to pull the fishing line in.
Unfortunately, it looks like Master was a disaster at reeling that trout in. He lost the fish!

Doggy looks to be an old timer. He’s probably been fishin’ a million times.

Our Airedale learned fast. After just an hour and a fish or two caught on a boat in lake in AZ. high country, Muggs returned to our irrigated back yard in Phoenix to somehow catch a fish that survived the canals, terminals and standpipes and flopped around our yard.

Muggs proudly retrieved his catch to the back porch and notified us. He’d learned well. Sweet memory.
