DC Appeals Court overturns 100 J6 convictions
Citizen Watch Report ^

We've got a courtroom curveball coming your way. A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., just made a ruling that might have ripple effects on over a hundred January 6 cases related to the Capitol attack in 2021.

The three-judge panel took a close look at a lower court's decision to enhance a defendant's sentence due to "substantial interference with the administration of justice" during the Capitol attack. The catch? The appeals court deemed that the term "administration of justice" doesn't cover Congress's role in the electoral certification process. Translation: the enhanced sentences might not be on solid legal ground.

This ruling could potentially open the floodgates for the resentencing of other January 6 defendants who received similar sentences, following the case of Larry Brock, who appealed his conviction to the Washington court. While the panel upheld Brock's overall conviction, it challenged the basis for the enhanced sentences, sending shockwaves through the legal landscape.

Misleading headline. Per the underlying story, the verdicts weren’t overturned, the sentence enhancements to the verdicts were.

“Might have ripple effects” does not match headline and is misleading.

“The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine” ...

In other words, the peaceful protesters who've spent years confined in prison are still screwed out of years of their lives. The only possible recompense for the improper sentencing would be financial, but good luck getting that from the government.

Wow, that really is a totally unexpected ruling coming from any court in D.C.

IMHO the DC appeals court feels SCOTUS on the back of their necks about to chew them up with SCOTUS' recent Colorado ballot ruling and how that relates to Jan 6 not being an insurrection.

This ruling by DC appeals court doesn't exactly state that. They are ceding a little ground today (shortening the sentences from their stupid long length), hoping to hold off for a while releasing the Jan 6 political prisoners.

This whole process is disgusting, they are yanking around human lives just because they can. These charges are baseless and the public knows it.

Sent to jail for years, while real criminals in our cities are routinely released without bail and often never even brought to trial.

Free the J6 freedom fighters from the DC gulag! Most importantly is that the prisoners who have been held for three years without a trial must be freed! Every judge and lawyer who participated in this judicial travesty must be severely punished.

“Sent to jail for years, while real criminals in our cities are routinely released without bail and often never even brought to trial.”

Most of the Antifa crowd were smart enough to know that they could not mess with Federal properties.

If you did some research you would find that the ones who were not mostly ended up in Jail.

This treatment of J6 people is intended to get a permanent Federal felony conviction on their record, giving agents the excuse to track them, put them on no-fly lists, make it hard for them to keep or seek jobs, etc.

Most of the Antifa who took over CHAD/CHOP and burned a federal courthouse suffered no consequences.

There certainly wasn't an FBI/DOJ Task Force made up of hundreds of agents pulled away from other cased created to track the cell phone data of every person who occupied CHAD/CHOP and were subsequently hunted down, tried, and convicted.

And what makes you think that those performing the worst acts of violence on J6 weren't Antifa?

I would far prefer to see the hemp/lamppost justice applied not only to Joe and Hunter but hundreds of others in the O’Biden cartel.

On the pessimistic side it could be that these judges see the country sweeping PDJT into office and are starting to CYA.

Are they attempting to slow walk the lower courts totally corrupt decisions? Of course they can never accuse one of their brethren of any wrong doing.
