This is why I bugged out to a small, rural town that is surrounded by other small, rural towns, which are themselves surrounded by small, rural towns. Pretty defensible as towns go - limited roads in and out, and ideal for some serious roadblocks.

I've forged some good local relationships over the past couple of years.

This weekend I visited the local Army Surplus store - another great place for preparedness items.

I recommend the formation of local "hunting clubs", "fitness clubs", "communications clubs", "orienteering clubs" and "canning clubs". It's not a bad idea to avoid words like "militia" ... for now.

In 2013 I authored a book that covered organizing small communities for such situations as we now contemplate. I really need to publish a second edition.

BTW, I also recommend reviewing some videos about ‘Meshtastic’ for local communications.

Decades ago I helped to coordinate small groups re fishing, hunting, church upkeep/functions and computer mutual aid.

Now, I’m down to a monthly bridge group.

My wife has a weekly Bible study group. She used to help to manage monthly Bridge groups, monthly luncheon and helping behind the scenes in our church.

Age and the ease of using computers and phones has eliminated a lot of our former face to face groups.

Covid in its early days eliminated many group activities.

Age and the computer age has dwindled the number and size of
our small groups.
