HELP

Posted on 04/08/2005 6:32:25 PM PDT by dirtbiker

Can anybody help me? I am looking for anything concerning legislation pased during the Reagan years affecting the United States Postal Service. My Postmaster is a BIG time democrat, and never hesitates to slam Reagan for ANY woes that have occured in the Postal Service in the last 25 years. I need information about sponsored legislation, etc.

What kind of legislation? Stuff that was pro-underworked and overpaid union thug? I sure hope Reagan didn't sponsor anything like that.

Personally I think we have one of the worlds best and cheapest postal systems in the world. It's lots of fun to complain about but I'm glad we have it.

Hey, legislation is not where to look ~ your guy's just huffin' anyway. The biggest problem the USPS has is that almost all of it's top executives are hard-core, full-bore, left-wing idealogues.

Your postmaster and his gumbahs in Washington DC are in the same boat. They don't want anybody else, least of all the Republicans, looking in on them.

It really did help the companies like Fed Ex and UPS take off. In a round about way those companies have helped the USPS. I order parts and tools by way of UPS. In turn the companies I order things from send me junk mail by way of the USPS.

Everybody's happy except for me who's buried under a pile of junk mail.

I guess we are the exception. Most of us at our office are at least conserative, if not Republican, and most voted for Bush in 2004. The PM's fav target is a 60 year old female carrier who is Pro-Life, Christian, and a former resident of CA (San Fran area, no less!) The PM about lost his mind when the Reagan stamps came out! He's a good family man, and from talking to him, he actually practices conservative values, he's just hard-core DEM. To him, they are the second coming, and can do no wrong.

What kind of legislation?

Anything, really, but especially concerning pensions, benefits, operating procedures, etc. According to the Postmaster, we USPS workers had it pretty good until Reagan took all our goodies away. I am interested in who sponsored the bills, and what they were about...

It really did help the companies like Fed Ex and UPS take off

Today, the USPS delivers assorted packages FOR UPS, FedEx, and DHL. We go everywhere, everyday to wherever there is a mailbox, so they have us take their smaller, out-of-the-way deliveries. We make money helping them out, and they get their deliveries out quicker. (Some places here in the boonies wouldn't see a UPS truck for 2-3 weeks after we ordered something, but the mail runs every day...)

My father in law works at the Post Office. Every day I get to hear how the money is wasted by the thousands. The horror stories I could tell..................

As for your boss. Its a union thing. Reagan never did anything to hurt the post office. The union is its biggest problem.

I kinda figured that out. He's a little peeved at me anyway: he tried to tell me that there was NO connection between Saddam and al Qaeda, until I showed him the 9-11 Commission report, page 62.....

The only thing I wanted was to know if there was any reform or legislation, if one of his Dem "saviors" was a sponsor

It's funny how some people seem to equate postal workers with liberalism. Many, if not most, of my postal coworkers are pretty conservative. People really can lose touch with reality when they view everything through their own predjudices.

"What kind of legislation? Stuff that was pro-underworked and overpaid union thug? I sure hope Reagan didn't sponsor anything like that."

By "underworked and overpaid union thug", are you referring to underworked and overpaid union thugs who happen to work at the USPS, or are you referring to a belief that all postal employees are underworked and overpaid union thugs? If the latter us the case then me, my back, and my bank account could use one of those overworked and overpaid positions. I'd have to pass on the union thuggery but you could always call me a government drone or a parasite, or some such thing.

I was referring more to your co-worker, who apparently has enough time to stand around the job and bitch about Reagan in lieu of delivering/sorting/etc. the mail.
