They'll die running around with bulls, but they won't help out in Iraq.

Priorities...

I've always wanted to see the bull fights, ever since reading that Hemminway book that includes the running of the bulls. I'd like to follow the the places in the whole book.

I don't understand those Spaniards. They'll face bulls but not terrorists.

I'm a die hard Republican, and I've been there for the running of the bulls three times.

It's a riot.

That first picture is not actually the running of the bulls, but what happens afterwords.

The bulls are run through the streets and into the stadium, where they will be killed in a few hours.

The first picture is of the baby bulls, which are released after the fully grown bulls which have just run through the streets have been corralled.

Everyone is drunk, (this takes place at 8am, and believe me, not one person has slept), and the people that you see crouching down are right in front of the gate that the baby bulls are let out from.

The reason that they do this is because the baby bulls jump over the first 10-15 people, and then run right into the crowd in the ring.

They are the "daredevils"

After they jump those people, the baby bulls run around the ring causing havoc.

The best part is, if you mess with them, (hit them or grab their tails), the crowd will beat you down.

There is a lot of respect for the bulls, and if you disrespect one, expect a punch to the face.

Also, if you notice those baby bulls have protective balls taped to their horns. Nobody is getting gored, although serious injuries are not uncommon.

They had an election. There really wasn't a big enough margin of difference to call all Spaniards cowards, but it was big enough to suggest that some of them are wafflers.

They've been rounding up terrorists and their supporters like crazy since the train bombings though.

This bull stuff goes all the way back to the beginnings of civilization.

No doubt they had a similar custom with other domesticated animals, for example, the goats, butt it only lasted one season.

That's not half as much "fun" as releasing them at night, during the dances. I've been bruised from one end to the other by one of those babies, when it was released into the ring while the young people were dancing!

She's Pamplona's mayor, declaring the beginning of the festivities! I still remember the good old days, when women stayed away from the running of the bulls (although as a teenager, I found it to be chauvinistic and degrading).
