I don't know about the movies politics, but it has the largest collection of bad writing, bad acting, and bad science since "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".

The 12-year-old and I have fun dissecting disaster flicks, but this one is too easy. Some examples:

Huge tornado is approaching a nuclear power plant. Car pulls up to the gates and the occupants tell the guards (who are pointing rifles at them) to turn off the plant. Well, OK, sure. Puff! The heat from the plant dissipates in an instant.

Why is so much dry paper and dry pavement around - Why isn't it wet in the city in the middle of the storm?

One megastorm is coming down from New York while a Cat 5 hurricane comes up from Florida. By knocking the power off line the temperature in DC drops and not only does the New York storm instantly disappear but so does the hurricane. As Momaw Nadon wrote, "Turn off all evil power generation and cars and any sources of heat when it gets stormy out, OK. Then it will be sunny out and we will all live happily ever after."
