Taos County administrators plan to talk next week to one of their Adult Detention Center officers —

an unidentified employee who released an inmate Dec. 22 without first checking his paperwork.

Jerry Trujillo, who is now at large, was arrested Dec. 12 by Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Wardlow on three counts of burglary, one count of larceny and two counts of criminal damage to property.

Trujillo was being held pending a preliminary hearing scheduled Dec. 23.

He did not attend that hearing.

There are two open warrants against Trujillo.

Victor Robles, one of two assistant county managers, did not know what charges were listed on the warrants...

Robles would not confirm information that county officials may have contacted Trujillo’s family ...

When contacted by The Taos News regarding the case, Robles said he could not furnish a description of Trujillo.

He has probably crossed the boarder into Mexico by now.

And when he thinks the heat is off, he will cross back again. And commit more crimes.

Burglary, larceny, destruction of property......no money in that.

Rumor has it, the solution rate for those sorts of crimes are close to zero in most communities.

Not too hard to believe if the escapee is an illegal. No records on him, etc. Too many illegals here and too many crimes committed by them and too many of them getting away with it.

You are right, we need more concerned citizens who can shoot. My eye is good and I am willing, but never had the opportunity...

Going to the range would be a good start.

Having good security cameras with motion lights to tape the bad guys can be helpful.

Not being an easy target at home or out in public is a big goal of mine.
