I have pets. I am not willing to give them up. I will live in my car first. As for housing, have you not seen the news? There is NOTHING here.
And most of the ones doing the trashing are noobs themselves.

If this is true, and it might well be, it IS a bad situation for her. I just find it a little strange that it's posted here.
I really am disappointed about how I am being treated. Now I understand why so many people have left this state and why busineses don't want to do business here. You have to be a crook or an asshole to survive here.

I'm starting to understand your landlord's position. I've now offered a number of alternatives--getting a temp job to make more money to get a new place; you can go to a shelter--but despite your "I'm not whining" pledge you're doing just that.
This is your life. You are responsible for it.
What is your agreement with the landlord--is it written that if you don't pay by X date, you can be evicted?
Do you NOT have a written agreement?
Did you pay a deposit, first/last month's rent? If so, what's become of that?
You've said the post office lost two mailings. Have you asked the post office what their policy is?
The landlord isn't responsible for YOU not having the rent--that's YOUR responsibility. If you didn't get it in your hands, that's YOUR responsibility, not his. (If you don't get a service provided, and the person says "But I didn't get a delivery..." do you say "Oh, okay, whatever"?)
It's his property. You can go to your state website or do a search on your state/city and "renter's rights" and see about renter's court. But that's going to take awhile.
So either take your money and get a new place, or go to a homeless shelter until you can find a new place.

Someone mentioned a possible idea, have you considered the military? I'm sorry you are going through this mess right now, but maybe it's a sign to make a major change.
Don't you just love posters that post without reading the intitial article? They get themselves into trouble and then have to spend the rest of the thread saying they really meant something else.
Hey! first, we don't invite businesses here, and second, this is the internet. This is one of the better sites with respect to manners. And on your first day, you are a Free Republic Expert? Listen, there are many here trying to give you advice, and I started out defending you, but you'd better grow thicker skin.
First of all you should dump the attitude.
Second of all, you are an adult who has to make decisions based on reality, not what you would LIKE reality to be. You aren't going to be able to find a place with pets. Why on Earth did you bring pets back when you are the one who's telling me there's nothing? Property owners can pick and choose now.
You have to put the pets somewhere and live like a human, not in a car. Either give them to friends or family temporarily, and then see if you can find something, or get rid of them.
If there is NOTHING then you can't live there, can you? You have to find a place you can live that's in commuting distance OR you have to start looking for a new job.
You can contact the animal rescue folks in your area and see about temporary accomodations--I'm sure you're not the first to have this problem.
For those not from New Orleans. You feel a love for the area that transcends common sense. Had I not spent 21 years in the USAF, I would not have been able to leave like I am. Red brown black or white we love our hometown more than I think than any other area.
My wife and I agonized for over a month on this decision. ANd I cannot wait to get back to visit and will miss Mardi Gras for only the second time in my life this year (43 years old).
Unfortuanately every bit of this is true. I was hoping to get some thoughtful responses. I should have known better. Some of the people here seem to think everything is your own fault and nothing could possibly ever happen that was not in your power.
You have no idea where those are in relation to New Orleans nor do you even know what they are do you?
