A 9-week-old kitten in El Cajon, Calif., is expected to win a place in the record books as the smallest cat in the world, according to a Local 6 News report.
Heed the cat is only 3-inches tall and weighs in at just 1.2 pounds, the report said.
Once Heed is full-sized in about six months, veterinarians believe he will become the new smallest cat in the world. Heed's owner has already contacted the Guinness Book Of World Records. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

Very cute, very furry, very small ping.

Look how sweet!!!
Awww...
His small size and stealthy black coat will make him ideal for covert operations against the worst DU trolls. Now somebody has to make a really small viking helmet for him...lol.
When we got our second cat, she was only about 1.5 pounds. She proceeded to growl at our 19 pound adult Maine Coon and push him away from his food dish so that she could eat first.
Thankfully, he's pretty laid back, so she didn't become a kitten appetizer.
Awwww how cute..
That's what happened when I got my 2nd cat. The older one was cautious and now they are happy playing with each other.
Hope they have one of these for it...
How cute!
She grew up to be about 10 pounds. She was discovered under a porch during a hurricane we had in DC a few years back and the shelter had a tough time getting her adopted because she started off as half-feral. We felt sorry for her and decided to give her a chance. Our older cat was becoming bored and lethargic, and he needed a playmate.
It's worked out pretty well. As she's gotten older, she's relaxed a bit. She did, however, nab a bird on the deck a week back.
My three cats tie for title of "Worlds most spoiled cat"
I've heard Maine Coons are so gentle they could be bullied by a mouse. :-)
Hey T! I'd figured you might want to take a look at this thing before it gets stepped on.
I don't know if it's gentleness or laziness. Our Maine Coon is proof of the theory of evolution- he is evolving into a throw-rug.
They're great cats, though, and anyone who sees them for the first time is shocked at their size. Our vet has a breeding stud Maine Coon that weighs 25 pounds. Plus, they're disturbingly intelligent. Ours has figured out how to open closed doors using door handles.
