After reading the comments on this thread, I can only guess that in America you do not have gangs of youth beating up individuals.

It happens, but it's not very common, and decent folks step in and do something about it rather than run away. Of course it's easier to do something about it when you haven't been disarmed and made defenseless by your own government.

However there was an incident just last weekend where a bus passenger intervened in a beating and got the holy heck beat out of him.

Oh, we do. Something like this could happen in almost any major American city, sadly.

Not where I live. Never heard of it. And that is not sarcasm.

Tony -- in the US, for the most part, and certainly in "red" state cities, we don't have rampaging 'youths' terrorizing people on buses.

Americans, particularly now, have a profound impatience with miscreants, and a willingness and propensity to 'kick your a$$' if you act out like that.

Other countries call us 'cowboys' and think it an insult. It's a badge of honor compared to being quoted in a paper as saying "I ran away for fear of getting involved or hurt."

It's why an American airplane will NEVER be hijacked by a group of passengers again. Ever.

It's part of being American -- a Yank, if you will -- that others don't get, and we treasure.

Food for thought.

Want an example of Americans? Flight #93. If I'm not mistaken, in the movie, there was a man from Europe suggesting that the passengers go along with the terrorist demands. Europe!!!!

The water in the lobster pot is getting warmer and warmer not just in Belgium, but all over in the western world, United States included. The actual temperature, in degrees F/C however varies country to country. We all need to wake up more and ensure our pols do what is needed.

Oh, we do, we even had Bernie Goetz "talk back" to a gang of muggers:

That was quite awhile ago (1984), though. I still wouldn't be too eager to ride NY subways outside of downtown and midtown Manhattan, but conditions seem to have improved a lot there.

Belgians will need an underground resistance to fight their own government and these gangs. A few of them strung up facing west may encourage civility.

I'm sure it happens, but I'd say it's rare for a gang of thugs to randomly terrorize people in broad daylight...At least where I live it's rare. When it does happen it's not random - usually gang-on-gang violence.

Oh we do. And our Multi Culturists here love them too. Soon this will be commonplace here. If you stand up, you'll be charged with hate crimes or whatever else our fine law enforcement can cook up.

Our yoots tend to do their beating in private. Why? In public, they would get the stuffing beaten out of them instead.

Yes, sometimes gangs of youths do beat up individuals. But at least it isn't a crime for people to carry weapons for self-defense. And at least the youths here aren't Muslim goons who attack non-Muslims.

If you Europeans don't wake up soon and stand up to the Islamo-fascists, there won't be any Europeans left to look down on us stupid Americans.

Ok, so that is why some of us are working so hard to build a larger right to carry concealed weapons for individuals that take a courses. Americans are as free only as we can protect ourselves knowing well, that the government cannot. Law enforcement is only good for investigating a crime. The right to protect ourself is guaranteed in the Constitution.

Not that you read about. The most popular crime now a days is drive by shootings in the BIG cities that are dominated by socialists such as here in Detroit. However, we here in Michigan now have "Shall issue" laws which entitle me and every other law abiding citizen the right to carry a concealed firearm.

heres a link for you to check out if you are so confident that Americans don't mean business.

The Armed Citizen

Having lived in Europe three times myself for a total of 10 years I can assure you that overall I and my family overall felt more threatened and insecure in Europe than in the United States. That's especially true with respect to the three years I lived in England.

But then I live in red-state America, authentic America. Blue state America (Detroit, NYC, Los Angeles, etc) has a European attitude and flavor. I would not live in such cesspools for any reason.
