Veteran character actor and Hollywood bad boy Tom Sizemore is in trouble with the law again, this time in Bakersfield.

Sizemore was arrested on three drug-related charges by Bakersfield police after the actor challenged a hotel desk clerk to a fight, Bakersfield Det. Greg Terry said.

Sizemore, in town shooting an independent movie, was trying to check into the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on California Avenue Tuesday morning at about 7:30 a.m., Terry said.

Sizemore and another actor, Jason Salcedo, got into an argument with hotel staff, Terry said, and after Sizemore challenged a clerk to a fight, the police were called.

Police found Sizemore sitting in his car in the hotel’s parking lot, Terry said, and was arrested without incident.

Police arrested him on possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

He and Salcedo were booked into the Kern County Jail and were still there as of noon, Terry said.

Terry said Sizemore is on probation.

Sizemore is most well-known for playing the loyal sergeant in “Saving Private Ryan,” but has appeared in more than 75 movies, with 12 scheduled for release this year alone, according to the Intermet Movie Database.

He recently appeared in a VH1 reality show titled “Shooting Sizemore” that tailed him and documented his personal troubles.

I googled him to recognize his face, and up came a site called www.tomsizemorevideo.com and pictures of him with Heidi Fleiss.

That’s not a good sign.

Meth head = loser.

Wonder if he smokes it or shoots it.

He will end up on CTV sooner or later in a Phil Spector like trial. JMO

He’s a lot like Russell Crowe in that way. I really like Crowe as an actor. He can pull off a thoughtful and intelligent role while still being masculine. Then you hear about him roughing up some hotel clerk or a girl seeking his autograph...

I try very hard to avoid these dramas involving overpaid, underworked celebrities. I often think that if these spoiled brats actually went out and worked hard for a living like most of the rest of us, they wouldn’t have time to get into trouble.

Sizemore is supposed to be a grown up. If he can’t handle life without a crutch, that’s his problem. He knows the dangers and the risks. His bad behavior is his responsibility alone, and should not be our problem.

Three strikes is probably not in play here. He would have to have been convicted of two prior felonies (partial list), like murder, rape, kidnap, assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, or residential burglary. If he has convictions for two of those, and I doubt it, then any felony counts as a third strike.

Sgt Horvath and Private Jackson were my two favorite characters in saving Private Ryan. With the talent that Sizemore showed in that film I would think he could have done very well in acting.

The wanton hedonism of show biz types is just one of many reasons why I view most of them with contempt.
