Here in MO, some people give their GP’s “summer cuts” to get them through the hot, humid summers we have. Your LA. summers last quite a bit longer than ours, and it sure would cut down on the shedding.
They'll use them. We have two beside my husband's chair. They definitely use them.
I know there was lots of screaming and Sandy shut the door. I know my son in law got it out but I don't remember how. I think maybe it went back down all the steps and went out the way it came in.

A sight none of us here thought we'd ever see, her playing with puppies and not afraid they'd knock her down. I just can't express it.
We've been watching them all morning, enthralled at the interaction between themselves and the kids. What a difference having dogs in the house has been instead of having yard dogs.I hope she is able to enjoy the usual puppy rambunctiousness.
She is and they have brought her out of her 'don't enter my space' area she always put up around herself where animals are concerned. She gave Lilly a dog bone this morning and her face lit up. She was so proud of herself she kept saying, I fed the puppy. That may not seem like much to some, but for her it was a breakthrough. Ok, I've babbled long enough.
It's working. She's not the same.

My husband did some work for a man whose wife is a dog trainer. He wants to go that route. I'll work with them myself as well.

Their fur isn't too long yet. A summer cut is a great idea when it gets thick. I'll remember that, thanks.
Hubby will pick up their beds when he gets off work. If they don't take to them we'll end up just letting them sleep wherever they want to lay their heads.
You just babble whenever you feel like it...I think we FReepers are just as enthralled as y’all are by this wonderful story and these pups.
It is a pleasant reminder of the good things happening in our world, and a respite from the negative.

Oh that’s just beautiful. “Babble” all you wanna; it’s wonderful that they’ve brought her outside her shell.
If you make them work for a treat - as in “sit” for it first - they’ll be more prompt at carrying out your commands. It doesn’t make much difference for me in overall obedience once a dog is trained, but helps them focus at an age when eagerness can be overwhelming.
:-) 'Big' is relative
Our 10 month old (yesterday) Labrador Retriever (Yellow Lab) 'Puppy' weighs 65# (at least and is all muscle) and is approx 5' long when she stretches out. And standing on her hind legs she can reach anything that's 1/2 way on our 36" high kitchen counter.
And she's till growing. Now when she sits she can look out the living room window. Until recently she had to stand on her hind legs. It's a good thing our daughter picked a female pup, her brothers are prolly HUGH now.
(and we thought ours was the runt of the litter)
I think your pups are Yellow Labs. Our has some black skin under her coat too (you can see some on her belly).

The lady said they are Great Pyrenees. I learned a lot about them having never heard of them before today.
What a great way to get a pair of dogs. I can see why people thought that they had Golden in them. Great Pyranees look like big, white Goldens to me. All I know about GP is what I learned on Animal Planet's "Breed All About It" show. They will be quite happy living outside -- especially in a warm climate like LA. They are herding dogs and normally live with the sheep. You might want to shave them in the summer for comfort, although I have always thought that those heavy coats insulate against heat -- but most people shave the Newfies and the GP around here in the summer (Wisconsin).
I'm glad to hear that they had been well cared for. You said that one of the children in the house had some disabilities. I think these dogs will be great with her -- very protective. They'll think of her as their lamb.

We have a priest who encourages us to ask God for little miracls. He says that God wants to hear from us all the time — not just when we have big crises. In fact, he says to pray for parking places (it works.)
I think you and your daughter were the beneficiary of a “little miracle” yesterday — 2 actually. Puppies to love and to love you and to bring your daughter self confidence. And you didn’t even know to ask for one!
