Troops donate more campaign money to Obama than McCain, despite McCain's military record
WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. soldiers have donated more presidential campaign money to Democrat Barack Obama than to Republican John McCain, a reversal of previous campaigns in which military donations tended to favor GOP White House hopefuls, a nonpartisan group reported Thursday.
Troops serving abroad have given nearly six times as much money to Obama's presidential campaign as they have to McCain's, the Center for Responsive Politics said.
....
"Obama will work tirelessly to uphold this nation's sacred trust with its veterans, to ensure they are not forgotten after they return home and he will provide our troops with the leadership they deserve, as well as the support they and their families need," Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said.
....
The report tracked donations of $200 or more. It found that 859 members of the military donated a total of $335,536 to Obama. McCain received $280,513 from 558 military donors.

That’s right. Also, the actual numbers of donors are miniscule, to put it simply. This is meaningless propaganda from AP - at least to us who think. AP, however, counts on a lack of critical thinking among Americans in general, and democrat voters in particular.
There’s over 150,000 troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they’re showing a trend based on 1,400 donations?
I wonder if the military deceased will be voting.
Is anybody watching the absentee ballots of the military dead?
If this is true, then lets see the Democrats work to make sure all military votes get counted... instead of doing what they did in the past to try to suppress our military’s vote.
So less than 2,000 members of the military have given to either campaign? And this includes veterans I assume since the article leads off boasting of how Obambi supports vets?
This does not pass the smell test.
Here’s how they gamed this info: “The report tracked donations of $200 or more.”
Now enlisted guys and lower level officers aren’t exactly swimming in money, so their donations are going to be more like $50 or maybe $100 at the max. Higher ranking officers are more likely to donate $200 and over - and are also more likely to be political, trying to pick the winner to help prospects for future promotions.
In other words, the poll tells us zilch about the donations by the guys with boots on the ground.
I call BULLSTALIN an American Pravda.
I know when I was in the military the LAST thing I would do with $200.00 would be to donate it to a politician.
The ObamOne has received much more foreign money (and from unfriendly nations) than McCain. A few months ago (last I’d read up on it) McCain had something like $350,000 mostly from London. Obama had over $1,500,000 from all over including Sudan (and this was before the Hamas supporting Paletinians gave to him on his Tour of Duty).
Bravo...Sierra
I call BS!
This is more of the same crap the liberals are spewing in an attempt to make their god look better than he is.
I'm sure there is some data skewing going on this get these BS results.
I work with and converse with many troops every day. Earlier this year, I did the same on another base nearby with a whole different group. I meet more and more of them and units rotate in and out. I can tell you with strong conviction that Obama's support here is miniscule at best. Almost non-existent.
That was amplified by the remarks I heard during the two days the Mediassiah was here last month. The guy is largely viewed as a joke. A potentially dangerous joke.
This so-called “news story” is just an AP contribution to Obama. First, why can’t they actually name who this purportedly non-partisan research group is so readers can decide for themselves whether they’re truly non-partisan?
Also, how large was their total sampling of how many service members donated? How can we determine if they simply stopped tallying once the numbers fit their paradigm? When was the survey conducted? How was the data gathered?
I could go on and on but my point is this is just another example of why the MSM have been left in the dust by media consumers who now have legitimate alternative information sources available online.
For the partisan media of the left, ONE POINT MAKES A LINE.

Sorry for double posting.

Also, just who qualifies as "military"? Active duty only? Reserves? Discharged? Retired?
Finally, let us please note, the military is supposed to be non-political, and mostly is. The total of contributors you listed is around 3,000 -- which is FEWER than one in 500 active & reserves, one in thousands if you count discharged & retired.
In other words, the story is completely meaningless, imho.
