World's Largest-ever Study Of Near-Death Experiences

ScienceDaily (Sep. 10, 2008) — The University of Southampton is launching the world's largest-ever study of near-death experiences this week.

The AWARE (AWAreness during REsuscitation) study is to be launched by the Human Consciousness Project of the University of Southampton - an international collaboration of scientists and physicians who have joined forces to study the human brain, consciousness and clinical death.

The study is led by Dr Sam Parnia, an expert in the field of consciousness during clinical death, together with Dr Peter Fenwick and Professors Stephen Holgate and Robert Peveler of the University of Southampton. Following a successful 18-month pilot phase at selected hospitals in the UK, the study is now being expanded to include other centres within the UK, mainland Europe and North America.

I’ve always believed that when you die, your first thoughts become your last...going into the light is actually coming out of the birth canal....why not?

They should dedicate a team of researchers to Joe Biden.

Watch him as he walks through Fort Marcy park. As he starts his car. Etc.

"...going into the light..."

Go toward the light, Joe. If it's flickering, run the other way.

likely a bunch of atheists who feel the need to “prove” to the ignorant and bitter middle class that there is no afterlife so they better saddle up and embrace the Change (tm) Obama, the Left, The Euros, The Commies, Hollywood, Broadway, San Francisco, South Beach, etc. are all guiding us toward.

My mistake. This guy is open-minded about the subject. Most published brain researchers seem hysterically biased against LAD.

Interesting. There were lots of links to hypoxic brain injuries (lack of oxygen) there too. So glad research continues in these areas.

First thoughts occur in utero. The conscious mind doesn’t fire up on its way out of the uterus.

Yeah, I can’t believe anybody would want to do a scientific study of this. Just terrible. /s

close....however, you must first traverse the bardo states. Choices made here (and accumulated karma) will determine your re-birth.

The scientific explanations that say that it is just a brain reaction to shutting down would make sense except for the fact that many of the people who go through this see and hear things that they could not have except by being outside of their body. That is what makes the phenomenon interesting and potentially revealing, in my opinion.

If Obama wins, the study will be conducted on November 5th.

Melvin Morse did. He wrote wonderful books on the subject. I hope everybody checks them out.

Closer To The Light (Learning for Near Death Experiences of Children)

Transformed By The Light

Where God lives.

A pretty unbiased research on the subject. Wonderful read

Near Death Experiences are real. I have my own personal experience when I had sudden cardiac attack...which becomes sudden cardiac death unless someone immediately takes action to keep you alive!

Apparently mine was "hell no, I won't go" because they had to cut mom open and go in there and get me.
