Today my sister and I stopped by my Dad's in Ballwin Missouri, a far west suburb of West St. Louis County chatting about life in general and the all the crap being flung about this election season.
As we were pulling out of the driveway I yell to my Dad "NOBAMA!!". Unbeknownest to us across the street a Prius with Illinois plates was stopped. As I yelled that, the doors opened and two young black girls (maybe 17 or 18) get out of the car and go to the house next door.
Curious, I backed up into my Dad's driveway again and got out of the car and went inside to see if Dad noticed them. Sure enough he did. Next thing you know, they are ringing his doorbell. As he did not want to answer it (I think he was afraid he would go off at the young women since our assumption was they were trolling for Obama) I went and answered the door. Lo and behold! They asked if I supported the election in November. I said "Of course I support the election in November." They then asked me if I supported Obama and I said, "No. Nope, not a chance. Nope." As soon as they heard the first no, they turned and walked away.
After we left there a few minutes later, we ended up at QT for some gas ($2.99/gal!!!) and saw this SUV just SMEARED with bumper stickers. It also had Illinois plates. I start saying "Jeez! lookit all those stickers! The duck tape of the new millinium! Bumper stickers." (And yes, they were mostly Obama's and other liberal drivel.) As I am pumping gas, the chick that was in the SUV and heard me pulls out of the parking place and starts to yell at me. I basically ignore her and continue on with my business. She continues to yell so I finally look at her and take a few steps toward her car and say "You got a problem there, hon?" Her eyes got wide and she took off without saying another word. Some of the other customer's were looking at me and I said, "Well, if ya can't stand the heat, get on the porch!"
My whole point here is that, even though we see a lot of Illinois plates in StL, this was different. It was as if they were purposely canvassing St. Louis, West St. Louis specifically. For those not in the know, far W. StL County and St. Charles County are really really red. Looks like der Messiah has his minions trying to infiltrating conservative strongholds.
It would be fun.To post these signs along the major highways between Columbus and Cleveland etc. etc.
I love the pic. Let the elitists craw all they want.
I have a rebel flag, bought it at a yard sale many years ago, figured I might not find another one.
50-50 the picture is staged. If it is true, they are ignorant a$$holes...even if the vote with me.
What is an Obama Motorhome? You mean a RV painted with Husein-O’s big smiley face?
By the way; Great!
Are you from a big city? Do you discount ordinary people because they misspelled a word? Or is it the rebel flag?
I don’t think of myself as being that prejudiced.
I am trying really hard to NOT have a bad opinion of you because you look down on people who are not YOUR peers.
Fellow Jersey boy here, that is NOT a flag of treason.
I’m with you; as long as they shoot straight I don’t give a fig how they spell. By the way, for the spelling snobs among us-Thomas Jefferson was a notoriously poor speller.
Don't try too hard...just have a bad opinion of me and move on.
I love this !
Imagine the conniption fits (sp?) that the MSM would have if they ever actually saw this
THis is exactly how they want to paint all of us
Nonetheless, I would rather spend time with Good Ol’ southern folks that may be a little undereducated than the OVEReducated harvard liberal types ANYDAY!
LOL!
You sound like a sensible and practical gal Libbylu ... thanks for your comments. You & I need to have tea together sometime! ;)
People who don’t know how to spell are stoopid.
My bet is that you are wrong ... on both counts.
I accept!
they are canvassing other states.
I got my invitation to “drive for change” to new mexico.
To go door to door to inform (harass) voters.
Or, if I couldn’t drive, today, in two union halls in az and two obama headquarters, I could bring MY CELL PHONE and they would give me a list to call in NEW MEXICO.
or if I couldn’t make it to the phone camp today (11 hours) I could log in and I could get a phone list of people in New Mexico to inform (harass).
I maintain that there's an inverse relationship between the number of bumper stickers (right or left-wing) on a vehicle and the rationality of the owner.
misharu, I’m sorry I posted what I thought was a charming photo on your thoughtful thread and it was spoiled by some pretty rabid comments. I apologize.
Plus, I am at least educated enough to know that the Civil War was NOT fought over slavery but the right of the states to secede from the Union. BTW, I happen to own a Bonnie Blue and fly it every chance I can!
I’m a conservative from the south and you are damned right that I resent the bad spelling and the Rebel Flag. I’m sick and tired of the south being associated with ignorance.
You don’t think that the spelling on the signs is that big of a deal. Here’s a hint- someone point out to this idiot that there are improperly spelled words and they should be fixed. The signs are painted on cardboard box- they can and should be replaced without much effort to save the poor home owner any more embarassment, not to mention other McCain/Palin supporters.
And I won’t start about the Stars and Bars except to say that when the Klan was waving it, none of my southern brothers were jumping up to say, “that flag is for heritage, not hate!!!”. And when American Nazis carried them on parade, no one from the south was screaming, “that flag should be used for heritage not hate!”. It’s only when people who remember the banner as having been adopted by the Klan and Nazis start to disparage it, that anyone from my neck of the wood start to claim the flag as being a symbol of heritage.
Long and short of it- change the signs and lose the flag. McCain has the south, he needs to shore up the midwest and west.
Thank you ... [I had the best of intentions, LOL].
The Bonnie Blue has such a wonderful, deep tradition!
