Students said they won't attend the next school dance if a high school principal's plan to crack down on dirty dancing at school functions is enforced.
Not only has Prairie High School Principal Jason Perrins canceled a winter dance, but he wants students to sign a contract and take a training class before they can go to future dances. But his plan is not sitting well with many students.
Perrins said dirty dancing at school dances has been a problem for a few years now and the students have been warned, but he said at homecoming a few weeks ago the sexually explicit dance moves got out of control.
So now, Perrins has canceled an annual winter dance in January and said pretty much every dance after that has to be earned.
He said he and student leaders are working on drawing up a contract for students to sign when they buy tickets for the next function.
Plus, he said they'll have to take an appropriate dance training class before they're allowed in.
Some students said they're upset by the new requirements.
"If we're going to the dance, we have to learn how to dance. I think it's kind of stupid," student Christina Fougere said.
Some students said they think the new rules are not only unfair, but that people just won't go to anymore dances if they are strictly enforced.

How parents allow their children to attend these dances is beyond my understanding.
Dirty dancing today is more like simulated sex

Good for him, set standards and stick to them....
Most people do not realize that this is not “dirty dancing” but truly simulated sex acts, no resembalance to dancing other than it is done to the beat of the music......
Please people, spare me the Elvis the Pelvis comparisons....not even close....this stuff is waaaaay over the top...

Boo-hoo-hoo. This is where Question Authority and If It Feels Good Do It, No Such Thing as Right and Wrong hedonism has benefitted society.
I'm thrilled. /sarc
Let the dirty ones boycott the dance, if they have the cajones.

After hearing the news, one area student was so upset, he proceeded to the nearest deserted industrial area to file this formal protest:

For what it’s worth, in south Alabama in the early 60’s, my high school was trying to do something exactly like this, except they were worried about the ‘Twist’!

For what its worth, in south Alabama in the early 60s, my high school was trying to do something exactly like this, except they were worried about the Twist!
You know, I grew up on all of the conventional wisdom displayed in Hollywood movies, books, theater, etc. that said that those people who objected to looser forms of dancing and music and tried to stop it were just prudish freaks, Puritan holdovers to be ridiculed. The concept of the prudish English teacher telling the kids to keep at least one Bible's width apart when they dance, claiming that the loose dancing would lead to other things was a common one.
But as we move solidly into the 21st century and we see the rampant immorality among, most of all, the kids of this country, I have to wonder if maybe those "prudes" weren't absolutely right. Maybe it is the Hollywood Left who has lied to us this whole time, demonizing the moralizers as inbred throwbacks. Maybe banning the Twist was a little extreme, but, as those prudes predicted, relaxing the stance on the Twist simply meant that the standard of morality could be pushed even lower, then the next standard of behavior could be ridiculed and then relaxed, and so on, to where we're at the point that kids actually simulate sex on the dance floor and girls make out with each other openly.
Given that MTV is one of the biggest purveyors of perversion in the world and is specifically targeted toward kids, maybe those warning about the dangers of "today's music", starting back in the early days of rock 'n roll, were right. New music targeted toward kids has been a direct conduit into young, impressionable brains whereby the immoral Left can pump all kinds of ridiculous ideas.

Your school dances had the girls lay down on the ground and the boys hump them, and pretended that was dancing?
To: SlapHappyPappy
Wow, I’ve never even seen THAT! You seem normal enough, but what kind of weirdos were at your (or your kids’?) high school? Granted, in my not-too-distant high school days, I saw lots and lots of simulated sex of various types (and quite a bit of groping and slobbering everywhere as well) but they at least were standing up! Nobody ever got on the floor unless they were break-dancing.

My kid’s school doesn’t even have dances, but it’s a small, conservative, private Christian school.
That is the kind of dancing they are talking about. It’s been in the media for a few years, with video shown that would shock most parents.
Reading these comments I think people are picturing Patrick Swayze when they should be picturing Tara Patrick (had to Google that one).
