WASHINGTON - Many people like to stop and play with newborn babies, but now some adult women are playing house with fake babies.
Some women are even going as far as taking day trips with the fake babies to the park, out to eat, and even hosting birthday parties for them.
Forty-nine-year-old Linda is married with no children of her own. Now, she says she feels like a mother because she has Reborns -- dolls made to look and feel like the real thing.
"It's not a crazy habit, like, you know, drinking, or some sort of, something that's going to hurt you. It's like a hobby.and it doesn't really hurt anybody," Linda said.
These women are paying big bucks for this hobby, from $100 to a few thousand dollars. For Reborn owner Lachelle Moore, the fake babies fill a void.
"What's so wonderful about Reborns is that, um, they're forever babies," said Moore, who has grown children and grandchildren. "There's no college tuition, no dirty diapers... just the good part of motherhood," she added.
In her Kansas City home, Moore even has an elaborate room for the dolls. She organizes birthday parties, bakes a cake and even invites guests.
Psychologists say there could be a problem if and when these women stop interacting socially with others in their life.

Yes it is, sweetie, yes it is. I saw a show about this with women in England. I realize people have hobbies, but dayum, these women were batsh$t crazy.
One had a baby made to look like her grandson. I thought the kid had died as a baby or something. No, the child was just growing up and the woman wanted to remember the grandkid as a baby. She took it around town with her, she bought expensive clothes for it. It ain’t a baby, lady!
For some strange reason, the parents of said grandchild decided they needed to immigrate to New Zealand or someplace. : ) Probably couldn’t get far enough away from this idiot.
Except for the fact that they're not living human beings, these dolls are so much like actual babies.
I'm not sure what to make of this, and the motivations seem to be mixed. The second woman, with her own children and grandchildren, seems to be just playing with dolls - a strange hobby for an adult woman, but still a hobby. The childless woman who says it makes her feel like a mother - I don't know.
Given that they probably keep a fake male in their nightstand drawer, a fake baby isn’t such a stretch.....

Could be a problem? So there isn’t a problem presently? What is up with these Husbands? Why are they tolerating this? Encouraging a hobby is one thing, but this is beyond slapping someone back into reality. What next? The Hubbies will build life size playhouses in the backyard?
If they are seen leaving the doll in a vehicle and walking away, they might come back to find a window smashed from the doll being rescued.

The childless woman I can understand some. It reminds me of the women in the book “Children of Men”.
The woman who did that for an actual grandchild, I would recommend keeping the child as far from her as possible. She would cause mental harm to the child’s development by denying it should occur.
The cute little moments when they’re beautifully asleep, but will never pee, poop, or puke on you.
However, they will never grow up to take care of you in your old age, either.
Creepy.
