Wrong, wrong. All the theories on here are wrong. "Columbus" (real name unknown) was actually an African who had his discoveries and even his true identity stolen by Whitey.

Exhume Pedro.
Test his DNA to see if he had type O blood.
If so, he likely was a Scot.
If when they exhume him , he still has a woody. that also would be a Scottish trait.
In any case , history indicates that he was an excellent swordsman with the native wahinis of the Carribean.Another Scottish marker.
And if he insisted on keeping at least one live sheep aboard his ship.............
