I agree. I saw this story yesterday and assumed renaming the stores was either a tribute to 0bama, an attempt to cash in on his popularity, or some combination of the two.

These restaurants are in predominantly black neighborhoods. Why would they want to anger their customers by insulting their hero.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are minority owned. Stores all over NYC have photos, of 0bama, many with Me-chelle and the kids, in their front windows. I find it creepy.

I guess some people are not happy unless they feel “victimized”. Funny, how the people who are “fighting racism” are always the ones who associate fried chicken with black people.

Barron is even worse than Sharpton, in that respect,IMHO.

I’ll have the AlGore Fried Globaloney sandwich smothered in Obamanaise and John Kerry Heinz ketchup with a small side of Biden’s Fried Brains and some Pelosi Buffalo Chips.

I’d avoid the Barney’s Franks Burnt Weenie Sandwich. There’s no telling where it’s been.

I know, and one of them was in Harlem - I was in that area just over a year ago, and maybe 9 out of 10 businesses had an Obama campaign sign in the window.

But, let me get this straight: A likely black-owned, and probably primarily black-patronised restaurant that serves traditionally ‘black’ food changes its name to honor a black man and then another black man complains that they’re being racist? Personally, I find the entire thing absolutely hilarious, and like something you’d see on one of the Comedy Central ‘news shows’...

They should advertise “Obama-free” just like they advertise Sugar-free and Transfat-free.

Why is this offensive? ‘They’ fawn over him constantly and the mention of his name sends them swooning — you’d think this would be a big plus for ‘their’ businesses.

Or, are the businesses in question owned by ‘crackers,’ in which case, “THAT’S RACIST!!!”

"Why is this offensive?"

Indeed, I've never understood the negative connotation associated with eating certain traditionally American foods. White folks not only like chicken, they love it, especially fried. The longest chow lines I've stood in were for American fried chicken, especially while deployed. Seriously I don't get why it's a negative thing to eat chicken or watermelon. Seriously it's a rather foolish issue.
