Most people will see about one in a lifetime.
If you go out durring a shower you can see dozens. I guess that makes you live forever.

Sometimes too, large wheels of cheese, like a nice stout Edam or an improbably-gooey Camembert. We had chunk of burnt limburger land in our back yard a couple years ago. The Dogs farts still smell horrible.

Not fireballs, however. You see dim ionization trails. I’ve seen a fireball (in Virginia in 1987, near midnight) and it incredible. Mine was visible from North Carolina to New York according to news reports.
I witnessed the Leonid peak circa 2000 and it was spectacular but there weren’t any fireballs.

I do pay attention to the sky. The two that ended in flares were orange/red and were falling toward the horizon. The one that passed overhead was quite an experience. When it first cleared the distant roofline, I thought it was a color ball from a roman candle going up. As I waited for it to arc back down, it's (perceived) speed increased and it raced by to disappear behind a nearby building. It was white/green and shaped like an elongated, horizontal tear drop. Funny, even though this was almost thirty years ago, I can picture it very clearly in my mind.

nope, not at all. I have read that the collisions of galaxies like one which DID just happen can cause shooting stars. I was merely curious if thats what I saw or if it was a very rare meteor.I can see why a lot of people posted me though with the sky is falling explanation from my quick entry.

I have read that the collisions of galaxies like one which DID just happen can cause shooting stars. In that case, you would have seen something that happened a gazillion years ago.
Are you a time traveler?

Your Reynolds Wrap will be delivered shortly.Reynolds Wrap is a poor substitute for the original TIN foil. But that was banned during the Carter administration...
