VisitDenmark, the country's tourism agency, has removed an advert from YouTube following complaints it promoted promiscuity.
The three minute video clip features a young, blonde woman holding a baby called 'August' saying he is the result of a fling with a foreign tourist. Speaking English in the clip, the woman says she is "trying to find August's father" through the video sharing website.
In the advert she says: "I'm doing this video because I'm trying to find August's father, so if you're out there and see this, this is for you. We met one night a year ago when you were on vacation here in Denmark and we met at the custom house bar. I was on my way home and I think you had lost your friends and then we decided to go down to the water to have a drink and yeah it's really embarrassing but it's more or less what I remember."
VisitDenmark manager Dorte Kiilerich has since said that the clip was meant to tell "a nice and sweet story about a grown-up woman who lives in a free society and accepts the consequences of her actions."
However the video, which received more than 800,000 hits on YouTube, has since been removed by VisitDenmark following complaints, although it can still be viewed after it was copied by other users. It has also spawned parodies on the site, including 'Brooklyn Father Seeking'.

I lived in Danmark for one year, speak the language fluently and understand the culture quite well - using such an advertising ploy seems pretty consistent with the classic ironic/sardonic Danske sense of humour...I do not find it offensive, but funny as hell. They should not have caved in to the Political correctness nazis.

They have a well-developed Nanny State there, too, eh ?
I prefer the 1944 Ross Sisters...

I only visited Denmark once, and I loved it!! I’ll never forget going to a grocery store there — forget which town. We had been traveling through Europe for about two months at that point, and as the cashier handed us our bag of groceries, he said, “Have a nice day!” LOL We just about flipped out! We had been in Russia, Finland, all over central Europe, and this guy was right out of hometown USA. :o)
Go to Vegas. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas and doesn’t come calling.
