UPDATE: Gov. David Paterson was loudly booed this afternoon when he was introduced to drop the ceremonial first puck at the outdoor hockey game between the Syracuse Crunch and the Binghamton Senators.
The governor, who earlier announced his candidacy for election to a full term, took to the ice at the outdoor rink assembled at the New York State Fairgrounds in Geddes around 1:25 p.m. The game was supposed to start at 1.
Thousands in the fairgrounds grandstand booed so loudly that the governor's words were indistinguishable over the public address system set up for the first outdoor American Hockey League game.
Very nice and loud boo from upstate NY. Made me proud of my former hometown..
Any idea if Jonathan Cheechoo was playing for Binghamton?

The state has been unmanageable for decades and decades.
The legislature needs to be removed, all of them, and start over.

My former hometown too. Glad to read they still have some common sense Upstate.
Sheldon Silver and the downstate cabal are the real problem. They have killed upstate. They have absolutely no idea what things are like outside of their places in Manhattan and Lake George.
Western and Central NY are a fiscal mess. There are many cities like Fulton and Jamestown where 45% of the city residents are collecting public assistance of one sort or another. From Section 8 housing, HEAP assistance for heating, to welfare, food stamps, and WIC.
I went in to a local supermarket near Jamestown, and I was literally the only onw who was paying in cash as opposed an EBT card. I was so disgusted I could barely contain my anger. Here’s this 350lb white chic with her little brown babies buying bottled water and porterhouse steaks with an EBT. Grrrrrr.
Patterson needs to do what our anything-but-beloved Governor...”Coupe Deval”....did.That is,get a prominent RAT to switch to “independent” and run for the office.And then,when the mastermind (Coupe Deval..or Patterson) is reelected with 40% of the vote (having split the anti-incumbant vote) the “challenger” is rewarded with a judgeship or some other juicy,lifelong state gig.
I live here, in Buffalo a liberal bastion, and I could not agree more with those sentiments.
