World Record Motorcycle Jump

He flies through the air with the greatest of ease. Seth Enslow isn’t a man on a flying trapeze, however; he’s more like a tattooed madman on the back of a specialized Harley Davidson. Enslow took a Harley-Davidson XR1200, put a dirt bike suspension and handlebars on it, and then used that bike to break the world record for a Harley jump not once, but twice. His first leap was 175 feet, and his second was a staggering 183.7 feet in length. The Telegraph has the amazing video.

He's American.

Funny hearing that low Harley grumble for a motorcycle jump, rather than the usual high-pitched whine of other jumping bikes.

I wonder how well that 990cc KTM motocrosser would do on something like that, since it is built for that kind of thing, unlike this frankenstein bike (although I don’t know many people willing to pitch a $20,000 motorcycle across a jump that long).

that may be a Harley engine, but as far as Harley goes, thats where it stops. Its custom built.
the engine only gives it momentum. The suspension does the jumping. (and landing)

“Robbie Madison has done almost twice that distance,322 ft 7 inches.”

I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but there are RECORDS and there are Harley records.
Since Harley Davidson motorcycles are very uncompetitive in virtually all motorcycle performance categories, they had come up with “Harley records”. This serves to keep the HD cultist happy The only place HD is competitive is in places where engine size is not regulated and AMA flattracking and that sport is dying.

I love flattrack races. A blast to watch. TT is also cool, but I haven't seen TT races in years. The old TT track by me was converted to an oval years ago.
