Two lines stand out to me (actually many do, but these two just move me to tears):
“These are the men who took the cliffs”
“The only territories we hold are memorials like this one and graveyards where our heroes rest.”
A final point. This speech is great, not just b/c Reagan was great. This speech is great, because America is great and good. Because these Rangers, in many respects, “normal” men, doing their duty, are great and good.
Speaking temporally, America is the greatest gift to humanity that the world has ever known. This speech captures much of that.
