I might seem radical here....but I really believe that an unwed mother deserves no help from the state...either welfare or child support.....it’s a private matter.....and the state has no right to force fatherhood on a father......and it’s called equal reproductive rights....

There’s rarely such thing as a deadbeat dad...only bad laws and judges......

child support in a no fault divorce is bad enough...but court orders with not even a marriage contract to enforce is even WORSE!!!

The mother gets complete custody and the father gets no rights at all unless the women and man agree to something themselves...

Marriage is a contract, and sans contract—whence comes the “right” of the female to sue for child support? Whence comes her standing to sue....she chose to have and keep the baby and the man had no choice......

So it’s HER responsibility and the government should stay OUT of it.....

“and the state has no right to force fatherhood on a father”

I am not sure I understand. Once you impregnate a woman, you are a father, no? It is not forced upon you.

The state might only enforce that you keep up on your financial responsibilities as a father. Children need provision. If you don’t want to provide, you can forfeit custody, is that not correct?

**********************

Her right comes from all the “baby you’re the one!” lines that comes out of the man’s mouth before the act.

he was having sex with a 17 yro and he didn't want to use a condomn, apparently...

men actually have all the control....they don't have to have sex with females, and they sure don't have to do it without a condomn....

it doesn't matter if you have teenagers fooling around and not married...what matters is a baby is born...a baby has rights to food, clothing , shelter....

and personally, Bristol should have just not included Levi at all in Tripps life....he's pretty much a low life who's bad mouthed the Palin's since day one.....but again, I'll bet he sued to get custody or visitation.....

You’re right, she deserves no support from the state; however, she does deserve support from the Dad! A bit of difference here...

Now while I understand that the woman seems to get all the dough and the Father gets crap, in this instance, she deserves the support.

This is not always true, but still laws seem to support the woman way over the man in most cases...for which I disagree most emphatically! (Or to say - the man always gets screwed!). Wonder why marriages are down?

I believe you are missing two points for the sake of the child:

1) the right to life, of course, and
2) that the state provided or mandated resources are for the child, not the mother,

and two other points:

1) fathers often become deadbeat dads as a means of striking back at the mother—which overcomes their interest in the child, and
2) if fathers don’t support the child it often falls on taxpayers, via the state, to do so.
