Rains a lot more than in NV.

You can get “modest” houses dirt-cheap.

If you like the countryside you’ll love being able to get out of town on the weekends. I can’t really speak for GR because all cities suck in my opinion but it sounds like a fairly conservative town.

Michigan is a truly beautiful state if you can stand the winters. Lots of snow over by GR.

My wife has some family there. It’s pretty nice, overall. They’ve done a lot of work revitalizing their downtown. Lot of conservative, religious family values. It’s where Gerald Ford was from, if that tells you anything. Big enough to have cultural events and institutions, but not really a “big city.” And the Lake Michigan shore is an hour away, with a lot of great little beach towns like Grand Haven. On the other hand, winter is long and it’s a big enough old Rust Belt of a city to have a bad side. All in all, though, I’d have to say that it’s a pretty good place. Check it out.

It's grand!

Seriously though, western Michigan is beautiful if you can stand the winters. There'll be lots and lots of snow in your future if you relocate there.

It is a very pretty town and the people are nice. If Western MI could split from the other half it would be a nice state. I bet it is cold in the winter. I was there once in the spring or fall and it was nippy.

Am from there, originally.

Lived in Zeeland for 12 years....grew up in Holland, MI.

nice communities, lake michigan is nice.

VERY conservative..Ottawa County in particular.

lots of churches...reformed and Christian reformed.

unemployment very high there nowdays..holland seeing increasing gang activity since mid ‘90s

zeeland is a quiet town....cops are pricks.

have a beer at Vitales for me....you can do that, nowdays, as likker can be purchased in Zeeland..

I gtew up in kalamazoo and now live in zeeland. Both are near grand rapids. I recommend it. Lots of churches and decent schools on this side of michigan. City is big emough for lots todo but surrounding areas are without too much traffic. Mainly conservatives in office.

Just remember it’s Michigan and thier governor wants to drastically raise taxes. Plus it seems as though they’re on the downhill slide.

Right now, today, at this hour, both Texas and Oklahoma are doing well.

You’re describing most of the state outside a few urban infestation areas. I grew up here in Jackson county and its always been conservative. The biggest town I go to these days is Brooklyn.

Texas is number two on the list of states recieving federal stuimulus funds and the GOP candidate for Michigan governor has a nearly 60/30 lead with undecideds.

I dunno why they dont just swear him in and get it over with. LOL.

Looks as if the 1st congressional will vote Dr Benishek in. Dan’s got to get with it though and start the final push.
