Baked Bean question for a Thursday afternoon
T-T ^ | June 2, 2011 | T-T

Posted on 06/02/2011 1:21:32 PM PDT by tongue-tied

Need help with my own brain teaser. I know this is probably a stupid question, but for some reason cannot remember the brand of the beans!

And I can already see the rabbit with the pancake on his head...

What is the brand of the baked beans that came in two cans, one with beans and the other with the sauce? For some reason I remember "lumberjack" but don't think that is right.

They were connected with a plastic band, and you mixed them together during preparation.

That’s it! Man, for some reason could not think of that. Have they been discontinued? Haven’t seen them in a while.

Wow, first 2 posts have it.

Okay, maybe I need to let the mods delete the vanity question.

WOW I never even KNEW about these, and I am surely into middle-age.

Fry up some bacon and crumble it. Brown up some ground beef. Drain. Add 2-3 cans of bush’s best, a little extra brown sugar if desired. Mix together, bake until heated through and a little dried on top.

By strange coincidence I was telling my wife the other day that I wished I could find them again, they were always my favorite.

Found a "make it at home" recipe:

Big−John's Beans 'n Fixin's

Ingredients:

1 16 ounce can Campbell's Pork & Beans

The "Fixin's":

1/2 cup Manwich brand sloppy−joe sauce (Heinz works well too)
1−1/2 Tablespoons Hormel real bacon bits
1/2 Tablespoon sugar
1−1/2 teaspoons molasses
1 teaspoon dried, minced onion
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground mustard
1/16 teaspoon pepper

Combine the ingredients for the Fixin's in a small jar, cover, and refrigerate at least a 1/2 hour (this allows the flavors to blend). At "bean" time, empty the can of beans into a small saucepan, and stir in the pre−made Fixin's. Over low−medium heat, bring the Beans and Fixin's to a simmer, stirring occasionally. When heated through, serve.

LMAO, a facebook page?! Wow.

I see where they have been discontinued, wonder why? (Well, maybe I know. They weren’t that good.)

But for some reason, that question was wearing on my blond brain this afternoon.

Thanks to all!
