WHY I (THINK I) LIKE HERMAN CAIN
Vanity

Posted on 06/10/2011 2:54:56 PM PDT by xrmusn

If nothing else, Mr. Cain is a fresh face and not a political 'whore'. A person who has actually accomplished something in his life time, on his own, other than be a politician. Have to go back to Harry Truman to find such a man. I mean a man who was himself and didn't inherit 4 million dollars, lose 3 million and still (rightfully) call himself a Millionaire. Truman - Haberdasher - didn't get to the House till 50 yrs old (Senate). Eisenhower - General Officer - not far from being a pol. JFK - daddy's money. LBJ - lifetime pol. Nixon - lifetime pol. Ford - lifetime pol (I didn't vote for him, in fact, NOBODY voted for him as VP or Pres). Carter - family money. Reagan - actor, pol. Bush I - family money, lifetime 'statesman'/pol. Clinton - lifetime pol - right place, right time. Bush II - family money, some early biz failures, pol. BO - Community Organizer, pol -right place, right time.

Yes, I was against Forbes(family money) and Trump (self made but I am not sure where he actually stands) wanting to start at the 'top', but I believe Herman Cain is a person whose time has come, and is at the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time.

The thing that Cain brings to the table right out of the box is the elimination of the race card. That really would be comical to watch: “Our negro is better than your negro!”

And I honestly think it would come to that.

I don’t like his apparently new “gun control should be decided by each state” position.

Gun ownership is a federally guaranteed right.

Dwight Eisenhower was far beyond being another pol. He managed the largest amphibious invasion in history, agonizing over the fate of his men. He was an American hero, a small-town boy. By the time he became President, however, he was past his prime.

Ronald Reagan was another self-made middle-class man who built a successful career long before he went into politics. In fact, his enemies attacked him because he was not a career pol.

Trump is not self made, although he (like Romney) increased his wealth during his career. He is a loud, foul-mouthed, publicity-hounding piece of trash, and not a conservative.

So you think that states shouldn’t be able to keep insane people from buying guns? Or children? That’s part of “gun control”.

No, I don’t have a problem limiting firearm ownership to sane adult citizens. I think that’s constitutional.

But I think it’s a federally guaranteed right so I don’t think these decisions are up to individual states.

i wanted to share a great line with you.

Herman was on the “Brody File” show on CBN (700 Club) the other day and the host Dave Brody asked him :

“So will you give free pizza to people who vote for you ?”

“I’m going to make sure people have a job so they can BUY their pizza !”

LOL....isn’t that great ?

My only objection in your otherwise fine analysis is to compare Herman Cain to Harry Truman. Truman, of course, was a DemonRAT and what he did to the great patriot General Douglas MacArthur was terrible — and we’re still paying that price today with an armed and dangerous Red China.

I like Herman Cain too. I’m keeping my eye on him. I have a tentative deadline set for myself of the end of summer to pick a candidate and go to work campaigning for him or her.

I think it’s going to be important for us to pick and support a candidate early in the primaries this time. Otherwise, the establishment will pick our candidate for us ... and it’ll be Romney.

Remember, McCain had clinched the nomination on March 4, 2008, a full eight months before the general election. Super Tuesday is February 7, 2012.

Monday, January 16, 2012: Iowa caucuses
Tuesday, January 24: New Hampshire
Saturday, January 28: Nevada caucuses, South Carolina
Tuesday, January 31: Florida
Tuesday, February 7 (Super Tuesday): Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Montana Republican caucuses, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Utah
Saturday, February 11: Louisiana
Tuesday, February 14: Maryland
Tuesday, February 21: Hawaii Republican caucuses, Wisconsin
Tuesday, February 28: Arizona, Michigan
Tuesday, March 6: Minnesota caucuses, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Virginia
Tuesday, March 13: Mississippi
Tuesday, March 20: Colorado caucuses, Illinois
Tuesday, April 24: Pennsylvania
Tuesday, May 8: Indiana, North Carolina and West Virginia
Tuesday, May 15: Nebraska, Oregon
Tuesday, May 22: Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky
Tuesday, June 5: Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota

Harry Truman was hardly a successful haberdasher. His store failed quickly and he went into politics with the crooked Pendergast gang. He was very lucky to avoid prison.

Gerald Ford was a successful attorney who took a pay cut to run for Congress. Ronald Reagan was successful in show business before running for Governor.

compare Herman Cain to Harry Truman.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I really wasn’t trying to ‘compare’ them.
I just had to go that far back to get to someone of his ‘upbringing’ etc...
And I did want to go back far enough so I could pick up most of the ‘disasters’ of the Presidents of my lifetime. I started with Truman cause I didn’t have enough to do with FDR.
(being only 5 or so when he died).

Thanks for the clarification and I also add that it's great to run into a FReeper right around my same age. We sure have lived through a lot of presidents, haven't we?

I only wish I were old enough to remember Calvin Coolidge, a favorite of Ronald Reagan.
