GPS/ GNSS Community Feels New Telecom Interference Threat from LightSquared

This did not just come up out of nowhere - This from last January:

In his State of the Union address on January 25, President Obama held up the Global Positioning System as a prime example of government providing “cutting-edge scientists and inventors with the support that they need” to create world-leading, job-creating innovation.

The following day, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) International Bureau approved a conditional waiver allowing LightSquared Subsidiary LLC to build tens of thousands of terrestrial transmitters for wireless communications in frequencies on either side of the GPS L1 band. Reportedly, the transmitters are authorized to operate at 42 dBW (15 kilowatts) of power.

In a response similar to that of the ultrawideband controversy nearly 10 years ago, the GNSS community has expressed dire concern that, if implemented, the Lightsquared initiative could cause serious problems for millions of users in the United States.

I am confused. if 0dumbo was really so high on GPS why would he push a system that might interfere?
Could it ONLY be that the CEO gave the pos money AND that the POD 0dumbo has money invested in LIGHTAQUARED?

Sorry, I think I copied the title of yet another article. I have been following the technical aspects of this GPS - Lightsquared fight way before the WH Politics were brought to the forefront.

After General William Shelton admitted Obozo wanted him to lie in giving testimony my tentacles went up and have been reviewing some of those older articles. One can come to no other conclusion than Obozo is committing TREASON with his "Pay to Play" for donors at Lightsquared, and is putting the entire GPS constellation in jeopardy in the process. Missiles depend on navigation using GPS. The only thing I can remember that even comes close is when Klintoon donor Bernard Schwartz, CEO of Loral helped Chine out with a reliability issue on their missile launch failures and ignored the State Dept controlled ITAR export restrictions. TODAY the Chinese have no problem with the reliability of their ICBM launch vehicles.

Fascinating how it takes some time for an important story to gain traction. This has been percolating since January. Probably a doctoral thesis in there somewhere.

Thanks for posting this. The Lightsqared - GPS issue seems far more serious to me than the DB LSM media is giving coverage to it. IMHO this amounts to TREASON, if you can understand the technical details of the very faint GPS signals and Lightsquared blasting an adjacent frequency with a billion times the power. The Admin's run FCC gave a waiver to Lightsqared. In the AWST article I posted they state ....."To go from a primarily satellite-based service to primarily terrestrial-based with ancillary satellite service is an effective reallocation of spectrum and needed to go through the rulemaking process and not a waiver,"

All this so the little boy king Barry can "look" good to his donors and gather donations for his campaign. Beyond DISGUSTING - and the RAT party claims the Tea Party puts destruction of little Barry ahead of national well being (AND SECURITY)? Huh????????

The US Govt has invested $25 BILLION in GPS and there are over a BILLION users world wide. This story is a hundred times more important than his Solyndra “Pay to Play”. Clearly our national defense utilizes the GPS system.
