Any flute players on here? ( Christmas music recommendations vanity)

Any suggestions on Christmas music that you have played?

I have three I'm working on, now.

"Petit Enfant" (Robert J. Ward choral), "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus", and "The Coventry Carol".

Any other suggestions for flute and piano accompaniment? My accompanist is awesome and can read ANYTHING. She's a JOY to work with. I have two other 'gigs' I'm still trying to dig up music for. One of I thought of is "What Child Is This". Also, maybe, a couple of Rutter pieces.

Thanks!

RIMTB

There should be some fine Bach arrangements for flute out there.

That’s always a good one, Shadow. Particularly ‘gets me’ at the ‘fall on your knees’ part (with the chorus). Whew. Tears! Adding to ‘repertoire’!

I played flute all through school.

My favorite Christmas songs are Angels We Have Heard on High and Silent Night.

Solo or with an accompaniment. Pure and beautiful.

Tony Snow (RIP) was a flute player and jammed with Ian Anderson.

Almost any saxophone Christmas music is applicable to flute. Just have to translate the piano part. Or if you want to have fun, just get a Christmas book in C, and see where you want to take it.

Lloyd Larson has some nice arrangements. I see online he has a Christmas book "Joy to the World"

I have used Tom Fettke's vocal duet arrangements. He has a Christmas book. You can add to the solo line. The arrangements are very well done. The songs are very effective with 2 flutes or a flute and violin.

Maybe transcribe, not translate, though it is another language.

Or you might want to look at oboe music.

My father is a composer and a conductor. He is away from home but I can ask if he has any music at hand. What do you want? I’ll see what he can come up with. If he can do it he will.

Yes, Tony surely was. I admired him so! Miss him every day! He played sax, too, if I’m not mistaken.
