They call me Americas Toughest Sheriff. I dont tolerate illegal activity. I dont coddle criminals. And I refuse to sit idly by while Washington turns a blind eye towards illegal immigration and border security.
As Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, I know that our porous southern border puts all of America at risk. Its time we had a president who knew that, too.
Thats why I support Rick Perry for president, and I hope you will join me.
Unlike other candidates, Rick Perry has never been the choice of the political establishment, never been a paid lobbyist and never served in Congress or an Administration. He is the true outsider the right man to bring desperately needed change to Washington.
No candidate has done more to secure the border than Rick Perry. As governor, he directed nearly $400 million in state tax dollars to secure the border with more boots on the ground.
As president, Rick Perry will stop illegal immigration and drug smugglers with a massive increase in manpower, including National Guard troops and thousands of new Border Patrol agents.
He will deploy new technology like predator drones, order federal officials to build more strategic fencing and end the dangerous Obama catch-and-release policy that allows thousands of illegal aliens to be released on American streets.
With Rick Perry as president, we can secure the border in just one year.
If you agree that America needs a president with the courage to stand up to the status quo in Washington, and a commitment to keeping America safe, I hope you will join me in supporting Rick Perry for president.
Take it from a tough conservative Rick Perry is the real deal.
Sincerely,
Sheriff Joe Arpaio Maricopa County, Arizona
Perry is a poor debater, though hid did do better the last couple debates. He didn’t support AZ’s AB1070 and his position on illegal’s tuition is a little out of whack.
On the plus side, most of the rest of his positions on the illegals issue is pretty good, securing the border, cutting off the magnets, etc. There is probably no other candidate that will do more to reign in out of control federal regulatory agencis. He has a track record of producing commerce and jobs.
No candidate is perfect. I suspect Cain will be out or marginalized. I think it’s now a 2 man race, Newt or Perry v. Romney.
In addition to enforcing existing laws..........

No E-Verify, no public assitance
I’m with you. Can’t stand his show however, Hannity does provide good interviews; something that Rush rarely does. Hannity’s show follows Rush here in Missouri so the radio was already on when the interview came up. It was an excellent segment. It may be on Youtube or even Hannity’s site...(I’m not sure if his site is pay or not). In any case he allowed Sheriff Joe and Gov Perry plenty of air time to explain their views; well worth the time to listen.
HANNITY: So you think you could secure the border in what period of time if you're president?
PERRY: I think you can do it within a year. I mean, seriously, within a year --
HANNITY: That means nobody can come across the border?
PERRY: Unless you want them to. You know, if there is a point in time where we need to have that conversation, what is the type of immigration policy we needed to have? What kind of people do we want coming across? And we will know who they are. But I feel very comfortable that you put those assets on the border. You know, the only bottleneck I see with being able to do that in the year is training up enough of those predator drone pilots.
We got these other conflicts going on around the world, but we quickly can shut that border down, bad guys will know it in a hurry.
HANNITY: All right. But you don't need a fence, in your view?
PERRY: Oh, I think there are places that strategic fencing --
HANNITY: But not across the whole border.
PERRY: I think the idea of saying, listen, I am going to build a double fence, we're going to put alligators between it, and we're going to put lava in there as well. I mean, you know, one tries to out-do the other one. That's 2,000 miles. The idea of building a 2,000-mile fence costs huge amounts of money and takes very long periods of time, but strategic fencing in these high-traveled areas where we know they are absolutely using it in there. And then you augment that with the most powerful piece of your strategy and that is the boots on the ground driven by those aviation assets, given real time information. Those three together make that border secure.

In state tuition..
won’t require e verify.
There is NO excuse for that.
Texas is different than the other border states in that there is no Federal Easement, the snaking Rio Grande is the border line and private landownership up to the River.
There are many landowners who’s land runs right up to the river, ranchers use the water for cattle, farmers use the water for irrigation and some landowners have inherited the land from ancestors that date back to the 1700’s.
There is also major recreation areas + Big Bend National Park. Two very large Lakes with resorts. And there is Apache Indian land.
In the other states, there was a Federal Easement so the logistics were much simpler.
Now that said, strategic fencing is more effective, less costly and can be done rather quickly with the backup of Guard/Border Patrol and equipment.
I WAS about to send Sheriff Joe $50.
I have the radio on WBAP all the time so I catch them all. I’m in and out so I miss some things.
Rush gets on my nerves some times. Still he also provides a lot of information not many would know about if it weren’t for him.
Vote for Perry on 12 NOVEMBER 2012!!!!!!
Newt can have his “Union Leader” endorsement. Perry, with his nod from Sheriff Arpaio, gets my vote. Keep in mind Arpaio’s posse is pursuing the Obama eligibility issue and will be releasing their findings in early 2012, just at the beginning of Primary season.
And you are right, the reason there is no Roosevelt Reservation is the presence of the river. But in fact there are some very effective fence segments, for example just east of El Paso, and further south toward the LRG Valley where the locals have collaborated with CBP to build combination levies/fences. These accommodate the irrigation needs. In my experience, some of the landowners who hold land that was part of an original Spanish-Mexican land grant are among the most insufferable, left-wing open-borders, Mexicans-with-a chip-on-their-shoulder America-haters I have ever come across.
Let's face it, in large parts of Texas such as the LRG Valley, Laredo, El Paso and other lovely, prosperous spots, Mexico has completely take over, colonized, imposed its political practices (?como se dice Patrón en engles?) and gone a long way toward destroying the Rule of Law. Yes Texas is different, and Texans are going to rue the day they did not stop the colonization before it was too late. Compromise is not always a virtue. Do you Anglos really think Mexicans are going to be as kind and accommodating and generous to you as you have been to them?
Ni modo.
Perry stands for everything we believe in circumbendibus. Glad you are on the team.
Yep...if anyone can get to the bottom of this god-awful man, it is Sheriff Arpaio’s team. I just pray their findings will not be too late. This nation has been taken for a ride with this poser in the White House.
Those landowners that hold land from their ancestors on the Texas border are Americans. Some are Native American Indians.
Part of my family is from the Valley.
They all want the border secured - but not with a 1200 mile fence that will not work.
They all like Perry’s plan and they are Republicans.
They support Rick Perry.
The land must be purchased and prices negotiated. That will take some time.

If Perry became President and secured the border.....
that is a step in the right direction.
What State do you live in?
‘Borders closed down. “Surly” you knew!’
Of “coarse” I did ;^)
Good one. Hair’s to you!
