CHELSEA CLINTON SPARKS PEACOCK CATFIGHT
National Enquirer ^ | December 15, 2011

Posted on 12/15/2011 5:19:55 PM PST by presidio9

Hiring news rookie CHELSEA CLINTON for NBC’s “Rock Center with Brian Williams” has created an ugly behind-the-scenes backlash, insiders say.

The former first daughter is the focus of “intense jealousy” among the show’s female correspondents, including news veterans Ann Curry, Natalie Morales, Kate Snow and Meredith Vieira, sources say.

While the women are honored to work alongside anchorman Williams, legendary “Nightline” host Ted Koppel, former CBS newsman Harry Smith and NBC Sports anchor Bob Costas, “the daggers are out for Chelsea,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.

“Chelsea has been hired as a ‘special correspondent’ with no TV news experience whatsoever, and there’s the feeling that she didn’t pay her dues.

“In contrast, the show’s other ‘special correspondent’ is Ted Koppel, who has decades of news experience!”

To add insult to injury, it’s Chelsea – not the experienced female reporters on “Rock Center” – who seems to be the center of attention, added the source.

“Top network brass are giving Chelsea star treatment,” the insider divulged. “One woman groused, ‘If her last name wasn’t Clinton, she’d be Chelsea who? There are college interns here who have more TV experience than she does, but they’ll have to go out to a place like Cleveland for years before they’d even be considered for a network job in New York.’

“And another woman added, ‘When her mother Hillary was running for president in 2008, Chelsea refused to give interviews to the media, and now she suddenly wants to be one of us!’

“There’s the feeling that Chelsea is simply using the job to ‘brand’ herself for the future – whether she follows her parents into politics or something else.”

I am not surprised, all women hate eachother, and with a young woman, well it will spark a catfight. their jobs are threatened, and women do that to eachother. no sisterhood here.

Just think of the alternative. She wants to work for NBC, just imagine one of her crackpot parents running again and winning and they didn’t hire her.

What would be really funny is if she does a good job.

Anyone can be a journalist. Not anyone can be a great one, but ANYONE can be one.

In college I worked on the paper there as a graphics editor for a few years. Had a lot of friends from that college (mine was engineering). They were the laziest people that complained so much about having to do so little. They did know how to drink and throw parties. Almost all liberal to a tee.

That’s partially what they’re afraid of. If she does a very good job without any formal training it will show it doesn’t take anything to be a sacred journalist.

It was kind of hard to find a video of her on the show. I could find nothing on youtube but found this:

http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/12/13/chelsea-clinton-rock-center-debut/#more-171753

She did not do too bad. I have been in a local TV station under the lights. It is intimidating. She was on a big set with a big name and did just fine.

This situation reminds me of the time I was almost cussed out by John Glenn after I pissed him off. I was visiting a buddy at Johnson Space Center and Glenn was in the same building and we ran in to him. I suppose he was used to being fawned all over and was taken aback when I asked him if he thought it was cool for him to bump someone else who had been training for years so he could take a ride in the shuttle. He turned red and was asking “who that SOB was” as I was being hauled away from my buddy who was yelling at me. Yelling at me until we got outside then he died laughing.

The same thing applies here. Someone who has paid their dues gets bumped by somebody with connections.

As if news readers need any special skills. Walters was hosting the Today show at 25 or something, and it was not for her news skills. She paid her dues differently.

LOL, yes indeed.

I had to laugh out loud when I read about Barbara Walters "forcefully" asking Kim Kardashian how she got rich and famous when she had "no talent", and had made a sex tape.

I guess Kim is a lesser "personality" than Barbara since she did what Barbara did, but also made a sex tape.

Give NBC some credit: their make-up artists managed to make Chelsea look OK, which takes some doing. Or was the image you posted Photoshopped to improve her appearance?

This will prove to be as positive a move as CBS hiring Latie Couris to anchor the network newscast. She tanked the ratings badly

In comparison, Katie Couric had experience, however her perky morning show personality never converted to ratings at the network news level.

Chelsea has NO experience and I doubt she'll do much better in the ratings than Rachel Maddow has done at MSNBC. To top it all off, and I have to say it, Chelsea is not a nice looking woman, which can sometimes help to cover inexperience shortcomings

I think this is a signal that NBC is desperate to attract some kind of attention and create some additional ratings. my guess it won't work.. and somebody will eventually be fired because of it.

The Nationa Inquirer is such a yellow rag. They have no idea of what questions to even ask. Everyone really wants to know the answer to the question Amy or Chelsea ...? Personally, I'd say Amy, followed by a monkey and then Chelsea.
