I had paid them for a yrs. subscription. My old computer had no working battery and the AC charger didn't work on it so I couldn't transfer the data. I thought they put my stuff on a backup as long as I was subscribed. Not so.

30 day backup? Big deal

That is a rip off then!

I've used them for a couple of years now and luckily haven't had to use the restore feature yet. Thanks for the warning, I'm going to have to look into that.

I hope you are able to retrieve your files from the old computer, losing pictures would be horrible!

get an external drive box and put your old laptop hard drive in it. you should be able to get your pictures off it, and you can use it as a backup drive

Take the hard drive out and put it in a external drive case. You should then be able to access it and get your information off.

I hope you still have the old computer, because really that sounds like a minor issue, you could easily get a new battery and AC charger, but even cheaper you can get a small adapter to connect the hard drive from your old computer to a USB port on your new one and copy all your old files over yourself.

Just to give you an idea of what you are looking for if you go this route:

Vantec USB 2.0 to SATA (Serial ATA)/IDE Adapter
