'Irate Man' Moves Car Using Forklift

A man who was blocked in his parking spot at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre took it upon himself over the weekend to move one of the vehicles behind him, police said.

By Carrie Frillman

A 49-year-old man whose car was blocked in at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre took matters into his own hands over the weekend after security guards told him he would have to wait until the end of a concert to get out of the lot.

The man, who had not yet been formally charged as of Tuesday, was reportedly irate when he approached the security guards Saturday night. He was a member of the Teamster's union that works backstage at the Tinley Park theater, according to police.

A little while later, he returned to the parking lot with a forklift—police said he had authorized access to the machine through his work—and used it to move a silver Dodge Durango that was blocking him in. He then moved his Ford pickup truck and returned the forklift to its loading dock.

I was half expecting something juicy like he impaled the offending car on the forks to move it.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahaha! ! ! ! ! !

I use a 2001 Corolla to commute. The other day some moron in an Audi A4 was parked straddling a parking line divider, taking up two spaces. Although there were other more desirable spots available, (which would not be true half an hour later) I carefully backed in on her (most likely a her) driver’s side leaving about four inches (10 cm) between my passenger side door and her driver’s side door, locked my car, took down her lisence tag number and went off to work.

I was tempted to leave this link under her wiper:

I was talking to a customer on the phone one day. He told me that his town held an annual car show with thousands of visitors. Two of them thought his driveway was public parking. He had his own forklift so he moved the cars over and to save space, stacked them on top of each other.

The article does say he damaged the Durango. He will be responsible to pay for those damages.

They’ll get him for property damage. Other then that,I don’t believe it’s a crime to move an illegally parked vehicle, tow truck drivers do it all the time. Good for him!

Without meaning to give any offense, men are generally much better at parking. Neither my wife nor my daughter can parallel park. It just appeared to be a girl thing. Tell you what, I see the same car in parking garage almost every day. If I someone getting in or out, I’ll get back to you. Deal?

My 85 year old mother can still parallel park her Porsche
Turbo perfectly.

Good for your Mom. I’m only a few years behind her and I have trouble doing it.

Maybe if I has a Porsche instead of a Corolla. Hmmmmm !
