I'm no fan of greedy plaintiffs, but $40,000 seems awfully light!

That is just to cover the truck and other property damages. More to come.

As I understand it, this compensation is only for the truck, and they have not waved the right to sue for personal injury etc..

Where are the criminal charges against the cops?

“Jonas, who noted he has waived all his fees, said he hoped that all other issues, including personal injury, can be resolved without the need to file a lawsuit or have a trial.”
The attorney plans to be paid in a subsequent settlement that covers personal injury. He wavied his fee to keep the settlement under 50,000.
LA can settle cases for less than 50,000 with out a lot of red tape. This just a way to get them some tax free cash up front.
Lawyers don’t do cases like this for free.

The attorney wants a bigger cut.
They would have had to come up with his fee out of their pocket, if they had just accepted a new truck
And he ain't got time for that

I believe there should be a few zero’s tacked on to that for the stupidity and thuggishness of the cops just opening up on a civilian like that.

Darn right it’s light....And the cops belong in prison...

That’s a cheap gratuity for negligently shooting to kill.

Especially since it was no accident. That was officers thinking that they could be executioners.
To: BenLurkin
Plus they will create Assistant Chief position for the brave officers that did the shooting. $ 40,000.00 is an insult to the two women. The officers that were shooting at them did everything in their power to take their lives away from them. In a just world, the cops would be facing attempted murder charges, instead they will be promoted to Assistant Chiefs or Special assistant to the Mayor.

Pikers.
The shootees should be getting the pensions of 4 or 5 officers.
